Which Couples From Julia Roberts Rom-Coms Are Still Together?

ETONLINE

What ever happened to Vivian and Edward? Maggie and Ike?

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Pretty Woman, arguably Julia Roberts’ most iconic rom-com. We thought this was the perfect time to check in on nine of her classic rom-com couples and see which would still be together today.

Mystic Pizza (1988)

Samuel Goldwyn Films

The Couple:
Daisy Arujo, a romantic who works as a waitress at the titular Mystic Pizza, and Charles (Adam Storke), a well-to-do kid from a WASPy family.
Are They Still Together? Oh, definitely not. They’re practically kids when they meet and they’ve already broken up once. They get back together in the end, but that’s just way too much drama. Plus, both of their families disapprove of it. These two are breaking up as soon as something better comes along.

Pretty Woman (1990)

Buena Vista Home Entertainment

The Couple:
Vivian Ward, the ultimate hooker with a heart of gold, and Edward Lewis (Richard Gere), a corporate workaholic who pays her to stay with him for a week.
Are They Still Together? Yes. But all that crazy hot passion has just turned to crazy. They hate each other, but he won’t leave her because prenups weren’t great in the ‘80s. So she’s shot up with botox and on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and he works all the time and hates his life. And then a site like Gawker learns about her past as a prostitute and outs them and both of their lives are ruined forever.

Something to Talk About (1995)

Warner Bros.

The Couple:
Grace King Bichon, a Southern girl and mom grappling with the revelation of her husband’s infidelity, and Eddie Bichon (Dennis Quaid), her estranged husband.
Are They Still Together? No. But they get along fine now, for their daughter’s sake. But as soon as Grace graduates vet school and she realizes she make it on her own and doesn’t have to do what her family or anyone else wants, she definitely leaves Eddie for good and finds a new guy she can trust.

My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997)

TriStar Pictures

The Couple:
Julianne Potter, a restaurant critic who realizes she’s in love with her best friend, and Michael O'Neal (Dermot Mulroney), the best friend who is marrying a 20-year-old.
Are They Still Together? There are two relationships to discuss here: Michael and his bride, Kimmy (Cameron Diaz), are not together anymore. No way. Julianne absolutely successfully ruins that marriage eventually, and now she and Michael are together.

Notting Hill (1999)

Universal Pictures

The Couple:
Anna Scott, a Hollywood movie star, and William Thacker (Hugh Grant), a divorcé who owns an independent travel bookstore in London.
Are They Still Together? Yes. At the end of the movie, she’s pregnant and they’ve gotten married. They are together now too, but they definitely fight a lot. Mostly because Will is still so insecure about her being a famous actress. Eventually she turns 40 and her career dries up some, because god forbid a woman be 40 in Hollywood, and they settle into a more normal pattern of life.

Runaway Bride (1999)

Paramount Pictures

The Couple:
Maggie Carpenter, a small town girl who has left three fiancés at the alter and earned the nickname “The Runaway Bride” in the tabloids, and Ike Graham (Richard Gere), a columnist tasked to write a story on her latest wedding.
Are They Still Together? Yeah. They’ve managed to get through the hardest parts of their relationship -- him writing sh*tty things about her in the paper, her leaving him at the altar -- and if they can forgive each other for that, they can make it work. Maggie learns to stand up for herself so Ike eventually stops being so possessive and controlling and they develop a mature, understanding partnership.

Erin Brockovich (2000)

Universal Pictures

The Couple:
Erin Brockovich, a single mother of three who gets a job as a legal assistant, and George (Aaron Eckhart), a biker who lives next door and helps watch her kids.
Are They Still Together? Sadly, no. They’re not fully together at the end of the movie, and as sweet as George is, they both seem content with the fact that they want different things. (They’re not together in real life either: “George” tried to blackmail Erin out of hundreds of thousands of dollars and then was arrested for extortion.)

America’s Sweethearts (2001)

Columbia Pictures

The Couple:
"Kiki" Harrison, a neurotic personal assistant to her actress sister, and Eddie Thomas (John Cusack), an actor and Kiki’s sister’s ex-husband.
Are They Still Together? Yes. Assuming Kiki is able to sufficiently remove her older sister, Gwen (Catherine Zeta-Jones) from her life completely. But what Eddie and Kiki have will always be less of a nightmare than his marriage with Gwen, so they'll stick it out.

Eat Pray Love (2010)

Columbia Pictures

The Couple:
Liz Gilbert, a recent divorcée who vows to spend a year traveling to Italy, India, and Bali, and Felipe (Javier Bardem), a Brazilian ex-pat living in Bali and single father.
Are They Still Together? God no, the woman in that movie was a hot mess. There was no way. (No disrespect to the real Liz Gilbert, who actually IS still married to Felipe! She even wrote a book about it, Committed, and now they run an Asian import store in New Jersey.)
