A source close to show spills exclusive details to ET about the reality couple's breakup and Kennedy's new squeeze.

Vanderpump Rules
stars James Kennedy and Kristen Doute are done for good and moving on, according to a source close to the show.

"Trust issues between Kristen and James turned into arguments," the source told ET of the couple’s split. "It didn’t really make sense since James was always concerned about Kristen cheating on him. Unanswered calls from James got boring."

The ups and downs of the couple’s relationship played out on the Bravo reality show, which follows employees who work at restaurants owned by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump, though the source says Kennedy never thought of Doute as "the one."

"James doesn’t regret anything with Kristen," the source told ET, adding that the couple hasn’t seen each other or communicated since the split. "He believes that everything happens for a reason and everything is a learning experience. He seems happier without Kristen in his life."

Since the split, the 23-year-old aspiring musician has been spotted in Instagram photos with a new girl, who has "the cutest Southern accent ever," the source says. While the source maintains that the reality star is not in an exclusive relationship right now, the pair spent Labor Day weekend in New Orleans together. (She happens to be from Louisiana.)

"The two met at PUMP Restaurant while James was DJing," the source reveals. "He went up to her and introduced himself."

"James is focused on work right now," the source adds. "He just finished writing and producing his album, PUMP Sessions by James Kennedy, which will be out later this year."

Us Weekly reports
that Doute has also moved on from the relationship, and is currently seeing a guy named Brian Carter, whom she met on dating app Bumble.

A production source tells ET that the couple’s drama will play out on the upcoming season of Vanderpump Rules.
