FOX just announced some exciting TV news!

Trisha Yearwood is feeling the passion!

The country superstar will play Mary in Fox's live musical
event, The Passion, about the final days
of Jesus Christ’s life. Set in modern day, the event will follow him as he
presides over the Last Supper, is betrayed by Judas, and eventually crucified. Hosted
and narrated by Tyler Perry, the show will air on Palm Sunday, March 20. Singer Prince
Royce will join Yearwood and Perry as Peter.

Yearwood is certainly no stranger when it comes to TV. The 51-year-old
singer has done her fair share of acting with roles on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and JAG.
She’s currently the host of Trisha’s

on the Food Network.

The Passion isn’t
Fox's only upcoming musical event. The network has been busy casting its TV
remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
On Friday, it was announced that the film’s original star, Tim Curry, would return
as the Criminologist Narrator. He joins Laverne Cox, who is taking over Curry’s
role as Dr. Frank N. Furter, Adam Lambert, who will play Eddie, and Penny Dreadful’s Reeve Carney as
Riff-Raff. Victoria Justice and Disney star Ryan McCartan will play the film’s
central couple, Janet and Brad. The remake is slated to premiere in the fall.

In other Fox news, Empire
and Scream Queens were both picked up
for another season. The latter, an anthology series, will move the setting from
a college campus to a hospital, “where some of the most fascinating and bizarre
medical cases are under observation.”

No casting for the horror comedy has been announced, but
much like Ryan Murphy’s other projects, many of its cast members, including
Emma Roberts and Jamie Lee Curtis, are expected to return.

Finally, if that wasn’t enough, the network also announced
that Prison Break will return as an
event series a la The X-Files with
original stars, Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, reprising their roles.
Fox also won’t let 24 die. The clock
is ticking once again, thanks to 24:
Legacy
, a potential new installment of the drama that will feature brand
new characters. Right now, Fox has only ordered a pilot of the show.
