Prince to be Celebrated With a Symphonic Tour Later This Year
By Brian Haas
Legendary The Roots drummer Questlove is bringing Prince's music back on tour.
Questlove will curate a selection of Prince's catalog for an initial tour of 33 cities in a symphonic production produced by Live Nation Urban and TCG Entertainment. The tour, which was reportedly approved by the Prince estate, will be called 4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince and will have songs performed by a full symphony.
Questlove explained on Twitter that the tour only has an initial set of dates, but is likely to expand. He added that his role is only to curate, not perform, likening the tour to a recipe.
"It's a full blown orchestra and a rhythm section," he wrote on Twitter. "Adding condiments and spices to what was prepared. think of Michael Jackson's One in Vegas (minus the dancers and stuff)."
CURATE: giving my 2 cents and suggestions and bringing some Lowerys and Hot Sauce along in case some potato salad is in proximity. should be super cool y'all. https://t.co/bkRjYS1jL2
