Maks Vows to Tone it Down on 'DWTS'

Maksim Chmerkovskiy has been known to get fiery with his celebrity dancing partners on Dancing with the Stars as he prepares his dance for the big stage, but after twelve seasons on the show, he told ET that he's going to tone it down.

Chmerkovskiy's forthright personality has occasionally found him at odds with the judges as well as dancing partners; however, when asked how he would treat Kirstie Alley during his second season with her, he promised not to frown this time around.

"I'm going to go on the record and say that...you will never see (makes angry face) this type of Maks ever again," he said.

In his twelve seasons as a professional dancer, Chmerkovskiy has yet to win the Mirrorball Trophy despite finishing in second twice, once with Alley on Dancing's twelfth season. After finishing in fifth place with Melissa Gilbert last season, Chmerkovskiy joked about his partners.

"Is that 'cause she's the only one that could do the show?" he joked when asked about his chemistry with Alley. "Ladies...[twelve] of you and I only got one [for the All-Stars season]? I mean Mark (Ballas) has like three people on the show."

On a more serious note, Chmerkovskiy said he was glad that he was merely able to have one previous celebrity partner participate in the upcoming All-Stars season, as his previous partners all seemed to be busily immersed in the careers at the moment.

The 32-year-old Ukrainian native then sized up this competition on this season, which is Dancing's first All-Star season.

"It's kind of like a bunch of sharks that you give a taste of blood to and now they're back for more," he evaluated. "I'm pretty sure that [those who won], are not going to want to give it up...For them, anything short of a win is a failed season because they've already gone so far...I'm hoping that we're going to go all the way, and I'm hoping to get the trophy."
