Do Blake & Adam Like New 'Voice' Coaches?

Do Blake & Adam Like New 'Voice' Coaches?

After three seasons, The Voice suffered its first shake-up of the coaches' corner, as Cee-Lo Green and Christina Aguilera, who had been mentors from Day 1, opted to move on from the show. With two new superstar singers as coaches for the upcoming season, tenured judges Blake Shelton and Adam Levine revealed their experiences with the new panel so far.

Although Shelton and Levine have three seasons of experience under their belt, Shelton asserted that newcomers Shakira and Usher came prepared to compete from the very beginning.

"We figured out early on that this was no joke to those two," the country singer said. "They came ready. They started jabbin' right off the bat when we got in the blind auditions. It was very obvious to Adam and I both that they had been paying attention and they knew what this show was all about."

Shakira's and Usher's natural ability to catch on right away and immediately become a competitive coach was fortunate for their chances of winning their debut seasons, as they shouldn't expect much from their experienced co-workers—at least not from one of them.

"I think things were cordial when we all first met...but Adam and I made a point not to try to help," Shelton candidly said. "The last thing you want to do is hand somebody a bullet for their gun in this competition."

Despite Shelton's frank remarks, Levine claims that that two have been giving the new coaches advice.

"We give them a lot of advice," the Maroon 5 front man said. "I think that the...attitude behind the show is positive. So, we've been trying to be good hosts and be as informative to them as we possibly can. We don't want them to be at a disadvantage."

Shakira gave her take on how Shelton and Levine have been treating her and Usher thus far.

"Oh no, I'm not getting any advice from those guys. They're here to mislead me. They just want to get my contestants, especially my Latina girls," the Colombian singer joked. "All jokes aside, these guys have been so great. ...Yeah, we compete, we try to beat each other, and we joke all the time, but they've been so warm and so nice and such great hosts making Usher and I feel at home."

"Blake and Adam made it very comfortable," Usher added. "They go back and forth; they play; they keep the energy very light, so it made it easy to slide in and even score talent at times."
