Milo Ventimiglia returned to Stars Hollow to start filming his part in the Gilmore Girls Netflix revival series last week, and over the weekend, he dished a little bit on how his character, Jess Mariano, will fit back into the reincarnation of the beloved WB/CW family drama.

“I had my first day of filming on Tuesday of this week, back at Warner Bros., which is a lot of fun,” Ventimiglia told fans at the Portland Wizard World Comic Con. “It’s kind of the studio that raised me.”

As the surly nephew of diner owner Luke (Scott Patterson), Jess came to town in season two, eventually winning over Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) and stealing her away from her first boyfriend, Dean (Jared Padalecki). While many things will have changed in the revival -- which will consist of four 90-minute episodes written and directed by series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband, Daniel Palladino -- according to Ventimiglia, his character’s attitude won’t be one of them.

“Jess is just up to Jess sh*t,” the 38-year-old actor said with a smile. “He’s Jess. He’s a little salty and ornery. Kind of doing his own thing and has zero tolerance for anything or anyone.”

Jess and Rory weren’t together at the end of the original run, but it sounds like Ventimiglia’s character will be integral to certain storylines in the revival series.

“He’s also there to kind of push the ball forward for some folks in Stars Hollow, the actor explained. “Which is something that Jess has always done, whether intentionally, maliciously, or positively. He’s always sent people in a direction.”

Does that mean romance with Rory? Involvement in the relationship between Luke and Lorelai (Lauren Graham)? Another fist fight with Dean? We can only speculate.
