Selena Gomez has a special place in her heart for WE Day.
ET's Katie Krause spoke with the 26-year-old singer at the annual youth empowerment celebration of doing social good at The Forum in Los Angeles on Thursday, where she made her first red carpet appearance since taking a mental health break last October. Gomez, who also attended the event last year, said she definitely gets emotional at WE Day.
"I just know everyone that's a part of this organization for years now, and I've witnessed what they do and how they celebrate young kids that are changing the world completely, one step at a time and I come here and cry at least twice while I'm here," she said.
"I do, because it's so encouraging to see these kids are working so hard and I'd love for that to spread all over our generation," she continued.
ET also showed Gomez a video of her "Taki Taki" collaborator, Cardi B, praising her during a recent ET interview for her upcoming Fashion Nova x Cardi B capsule collection. Gomez and Cardi recently made a surprise appearance at Coachella week one during DJ Snake's set to sing their hit with Ozuna, and clearly, the love is mutual between the 26-year-old rapper and Gomez.
"I'm obsessed with her, and she's so sweet and she's very honest and I respect that," Gomez said of Cardi. " ... I just think she's hilarious and she brings a fiery energy to anything."
As for fans feverishly anticipating new music from another one of Gomez's close friends, Taylor Swift -- which Swift herself has been teasing -- Gomez is definitely excited.
"Oh my goodness. It's amazing," she said of Swift's new music. "You just wait."
The WE Day special will air Aug. 9 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
On Wednesday, Gomez got candid about seeking therapy, spending time alone and having faith in love in an interview with Coach's "Dream It Real" podcast. She also said her own new music was coming.
"I'm looking forward to my album and I'm looking forward to spending time alone," she said. "I think I'm finally, finally, finally at the age where I love being alone."
