Lili Reinhart has revealed she has been diagnosed with alopecia.
The 27-year-old actress took to TikTok on Monday to share the personal revelation with her followers. In a somber video, she disclosed her recent diagnosis of alopecia, a common condition leading to hair loss, often affecting the scalp but potentially impacting hair anywhere on the body.
In the TikTok clip, Reinhart leaned against a pillow, bathed in a red light that she revealed to be part of her new routine -- red light therapy. The actress captioned the post, "Was just diagnosed with alopecia in the midst of a major depressive episode. Red light therapy is my new best friend. #alopecia #mentalhealth." Red light therapy is known to stimulate hair growth and can contribute to increased hair count, thickness and density.
Fans quickly rallied behind Reinhart, offering words of encouragement and sharing their own experiences with alopecia. Messages of support flooded in, with followers expressing gratitude for her decision to use her platform to raise awareness about the condition.

This revelation comes after Reinhart's previous openness about her struggles with depression, as she shared on social media in May 2021. In an Instagram Story, she revealed, "Some days I feel really defeated by my depression... It's an exhausting battle that I've been fighting for 11 years."
Despite the challenges, she encouraged others facing similar battles, reminding them, "Remember you are always worth fighting for. And tomorrow could be such a beautiful day."
Before her alopecia diagnosis, Reinhart had been candid about the toll her work in TV and film had taken on her hair. In a 2019 Allure cover story, she acknowledged the damage caused by heat styling and revealed her commitment to hair care.
Noting her damaged hair, she had shared, "If I had to dye my hair, I would have to wear a wig," emphasizing the strain her tresses had endured throughout her career.
