'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' Stars on Sabrina and Harvey's Heartbreaking Finale Moment (Exclusive)

Kiernan Shipka and Ross Lynch dish to ET about the future of the beloved TV couple.

Warning: Spoiler alert, witches! If you have not watched all of Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, go sign your name in the Book of the Dead and come back when you're done!

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina's first season brought fans a little bit of everything on the spooky spectrum, from demonic drama to personal peril, as everyone's favorite teenage witch came to terms with the truth of her powerful legacy and finally signed her name in the Book of the Dead.

But the season ended on a moment of heartbreak for central couple Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) and Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), when Sabrina pushed her mortal beau away after summoning powerful dark magic in order to save the town of Greendale from impending doom.

In the final moments of the season, Harvey, having come to terms with his girlfriend's revelation about her witchy ways, was ready to give the relationship another chance, but Sabrina tearfully warned him that might not be "such a good idea."

"I had to do something tonight that scares me, Harvey. It touched something dark inside me," she explained of the infernal incantation she called forth to take on the Greendale 13. "I don't know if it's safe for me to be around you, or Ros or Susie... I love you too much to risk anything bad happening to you."

"It's kind of sad isn't it?" Lynch reflected to ET's Leanne Aguilera at the show's premiere. "Because you always want Harvey and Sabrina to be together, that iconic couple. "

"He finally learned the truth," the actor said of Harvey's struggle to accept Sabrina's shocking revelation. "But because Harvey comes from a long line of witch hunters, he doesn't take to the magic very easily, and that eventually kind of pulls them apart."

Sabrina's somewhat stubborn sweetheart got a push in the right direction from an unlikely source in the finale, as Nick Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood) -- Sabrina's classmate at the Academy of Unseen Arts, who has made his interest in his fellow witch more than clear -- assured Harvey of his estranged girlfriend's devotion.

"I liked that scene!" Lynch said of Nick's seemingly selfless admission, as the two teamed up to protect Harvey's house from the Red Angel of Death. "I also really enjoyed Gavin and my relationship, so just having a full day on set and working with Gavin, which obviously I don't really get to do in general, was just really fun. We had a really, really good day. It was fun."

As for what's to come for Harvey and Sabrina in Chilling Adventures' second season, Lynch remained tight-lipped, but sweetly reflected on some of his favorite scenes for the couple so far -- such as their night together in the back of Harvey's pickup truck.

"Those are my favorite moments," he noted. "Especially with someone like Kiernan, who is obviously so easy to work with. She's just a really sweet person."

"People ask us occasionally, now that we're doing press, they ask us how we developed our chemistry, and I'm like, it's Kiernan. How can you not feel some way towards her? So those are my favorite scenes to film and they always will be."

For Shipka, who described the season finale as "amazing," seeing through Sabrina's story in season one was fulfilling, because of the magical way everything came together.

"I feel like there’s moments in the first couple of episode that really pay off in the last couple of episodes that I was personally so excited to play out, because it all wrapped up really in a wonderful way," she explained. "It’s been a wild ride, it’s been a crazy character to play. So amazing, so fun. Just to play someone that really does have an arc and growth is just amazing."
