Courteney Cox Recreates Her Dance From Bruce Springsteen's 'Dancing in the Dark' Music Video

In 1984, Courteney Cox starred in Bruce Springsteen's 'Dancing in the Dark' music video. Now, she's bringing back those dance moves.

Courteney Cox has some smooth moves!

In 1984, Cox was pulled onstage in the video for Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark." Flash forward 40 years later and Cox has recreated her iconic dance moves on Instagram.

In the clip posted on Sunday responding to the prompt, "Asking my mom how she danced in the '80s," Cox, 59, waves her hands in the air to Bronski Beat's "Smalltown Boy" before shaking her head and unzipping her jacket to reveal the same, or a similar, "Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band" T-shirt she wore in the original music video.

The music suddenly changes to Springsteen's song, and while she might not have been dancing in the dark, Cox busted out some throwback dance moves in the light.

"1980's dancing…in the dark," the Scream star captioned the video.

In March 2022, Cox recalled auditioning for Springsteen's 1984 video for "Dancing in the Dark" on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show. It was awkward, to say the least.

"I thought I was in the wrong place," Cox said of showing up to the audition and being surrounded by professional dancers. "I was like, 'I don't know what they're doing, but I can't even bend my leg. Like, this is it.'"

"I went in to [director] Brian De Palma's office, he put on the music and said, 'Will you dance?' I thought, 'Right now, here, in front of you, just the two of us?'" she remembered. "It was so embarrassing. I think that's why I got it, because I was literally like [nervously saying], 'OK.' I think that's what they wanted, a fan that just couldn't believe it."

Despite feeling a little embarrassed, Cox looks back positively at the fun time.

"Bruce Springsteen, God, he's so incredible. I love that song," Cox gushed, before admitting that she does "get a little embarrassed" when she watches the video now.

"I do feel like when I watch the video, when I see it, I mean, God, did you see my dance? It was pathetic," she said. "I'm not a bad dancer, but that was horrible. I was so nervous."

The Friends star has seemingly been feeling nostalgic lately. Just last month, she posted a video poking fun at her humid hair in Miami with an iconic Monica Geller reference.
