Demi Lovato Makes Surprise Return to the 2024 Met Gala 8 Years After 'Awkward' Experience

Lovato's last appearance was in 2016, which she recalled as 'f**king awkward.'

Demi Lovato has returned to the Met Gala!

After an eight-year absence, the "Confident" songstress hit the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday for fashion's biggest night -- and made a glamorous statement.

Lovato, 31, adhered to the this year's theme, "The Garden of Time" in a sleek chrome gown by Prabal Gurung. Lovato's monotone gown was adorned with elegant flowers that cascaded from the top of the haltered bust down to the foot-long train that had lace details.

On her neck -- alongside her tattoos -- was a diamond piece by De Beers.

For her glam, the "Tell Me You Love Me" songstress had sparkling silver eyeshadow with a black accented shadow blended outside of her lid, completing the glam with a chic nude pout.

Opting for a change to her hair, Lovato traded in her short bob for long dark tresses, that flowed down to the tip of her back.

Prior to hitting the green carpet, Lovato took to her Instagram Story to make the reveal of her return and show off her dress.

Lovato last attended the Met Gala in 2016, when she was part of the Moschino crew, posing alongside designer Jeremy Scott and rapper Nicki Minaj. Following the event, Lovato got candid about the evening, and teased that it would possibly be her last time at the fundraising event.

"This picture pretty much summed up my first and probably last met ???,” the singer wrote, adding some appropriate hashtags. “#cool #sof***ingawkward #notforme #sweatpants #forensicfiles #whatsgood," she captioned the photo -- that has since been delated.

Lovato later updated the post -- clearing up any speculation of a beef with Minaj.

"P.s. some of y'all need to learn how to take a joke,” Lovato added. "I'm obviously laughing at the fact that 1. I look incredibly awkward and 2. That the shade being thrown in this picture actually gives me life ???."

Safe to say, Lovato is feeling a little more confident as she took the carpet this evening.
