Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik to Reprise 'Big Bang Theory' Roles for 'Young Sheldon' Finale

Parsons and Bialik will reprise their 'Big Bang Theory' roles as the prequel series comes to an end.

Young Sheldon is preparing to say goodbye after seven seasons -- and they'll have some very special guests on hand when they do!

CBS announced on Wednesday that Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reprise their Big Bang Theory roles as grown-up Sheldon Cooper and his wife, Amy Farrah Fowler, for the Young Sheldon series finale, set to air on May 16.

While details about the pair's appearance are being kept under wraps, the likely flash-forward will be the first time they've appeared on screen together since the Big Bang Theory finale in May 2019.

Parsons serves as an executive producer on the spin-off series, and provides the show's voiceover from grown-up Sheldon. Bialik has also appeared in voiceover, and a young version of her character was seen in the season 2 finale.

ET spoke with Iain Armitage, who plays the titular young Sheldon, ahead of the seventh and final season, and the 15-year-old reflected on the series' run, and growing up on set.

"I don't think you can wrap up a seven-year experience that has been as wonderful as this," Armitage reflected. "Every single person that works here, every cast member, every crew member, works so hard. [They're] so dedicated to what they do. They're so funny and they really feel like family."

However, Young Sheldon's final episodes don't mark the end of the TV universe. CBS announced on Tuesday that they had ordered a new spin-off to series, centered on Sheldon's brother, Georgie (Montana Jordan), and his wife, Mandy (Emily Osment), as they raise their young family in Texas.

"It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy," said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, in a press release. "Chuck [Lorre] and both Steves [Molaro and Holland[ have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories brought to life by Montana and Emily. We eagerly look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe."

The seventh and final season of Young Sheldon airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. PT/ET on CBS. The series finale will be two back-to-back episodes on Thursday, May 16, starting at 8 p.m. PT/ET on CBS.
