The Wyld Stallyns are gearing up to ride again!

Almost three decades after Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure first hit screens to become a beloved comedy classic -- only to be followed by the celebrated sequel, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, two years later -- fans are finally going to see the wonderfully oblivious heroes return to the big screen for the long-awaited third installment in the series.

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter have signed on to reprise their roles as Ted Logan and Bill S. Preston, Esq, respectively, for Bill & Ted Face the Music, The Hollywood Reporter first reported on Tuesday.

Winter himself teased the big news on Twitter as well, writing, "We’re tuning the air guitars," adding the tag "#BT3."

Original Bill & Ted writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have reportedly been tapped to pen the upcoming adventure, while Galaxy Quest director Dean Parisot is set to helm the exciting project.

Bill & Ted Face the Music is currently being shopped around at the Cannes Film Festival, which kicked off Tuesday.

According to reports, the film -- which is currently in pre-production -- will catch up with the duo as they struggle under the burden of middle age, financial insecurity and the responsibilities of having a family. Their band, Wyld Stallyns, haven't ever gotten their big break -- much less written the greatest song of all time.

However, as time and space begins to rip apart at the seams, a mysterious stranger comes to them with a prophecy warning that the only thing that can save the universe is the song they have yet to write. In order to get inspiration, they must travel through time (with their kids!) to seek the one rocking tune that will bring order to the encroaching chaos.

ET's Deidre Behar spoke with Reeves in June 2016 at a press junket for his surreal drama Neon Demon, and the 51-year-old star shared some exciting details about the hotly anticipated next installment in the cult classic franchise.

"It's funny!" teased Reeves, who revealed that a new draft of the script had recently been submitted. "It's about the pressure of Bill and Ted having to save the world and it not quite working out."

Reeves also said that the film will also have some drama, which comes from the "the toll [their adventure] is taking on their families," and teased that the Bill and Ted bromance might even be "breaking apart."
