Julianne Hough's Personal 'Footloose' Connection

Julianne Hough's Personal 'Footloose' Connection

Julianne Hough has made an organic transition from the ballroom to the big screen and she revealed to ET's Samantha Harris that it may have been fate.

"There are so many Footloose connections to me, it's not even funny," said Julianne, who stars in the remake that premieres in October. "It had to come to fruition."

Not only did Julianne grow up in Utah, where the original movie was filmed, but her first dance on Dancing with the Stars was to Let's Hear It for the Boy, from the original soundtrack.

The new Footloose finds Julianne stepping into Lori Singer's cowboy boots as Ariel Moore, a small-town girl who takes a shine to newcomer Ren MacCormack (with Kenny Wormald taking on Kevin Bacon's iconic role). Ren soon discovers that the town prohibits loud music and dancing in response to a tragic accident, and must face off against Ariel's father, Reverend Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid), to bring life back to the repressed community.

Newcomer Kenny Wormald acknowledged how much this role means to his life and career, but he admitted that right now, most things have stayed the same for the budding star.

"Everyone's like, 'Are you ready for your life to change?'" said Kenny. "I just kind of going through the motions and I'm enjoying every moment of it."

Julianne and her real-life beau Ryan Seacrest were most recently spotted at Kim Kardashian's wedding and Samantha got the actress to open up concerning their relationship.

"The best thing about Ryan is ... his thoughtfulness," Julianne said. "He is the most thoughtful person I've ever met."

Footloose hits theaters October 14.
