The star-studded cast reveals the reasons Russell Crowe was the only real choice to play Noah.
In the upcoming biblical adventure film Noah, Russell Crowe takes on the role of the eponymous hero who is tasked by God with building a massive ark before the earth is flooded.
It's a familiar tale being adapted by an unconventional director, Black Swan creator Darren Aronofsky, and features a massive cast of Hollywood veterans like Crowe, Ray Winstone, Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Hopkins, as well as other stars inclusing Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth.

Casting a film as massive as Noah, with a story as well known, was no easy task. But on the red carpet at the New York premiere of the film, Aronofsky explained to ET why Crowe was the perfect choice.
"When you make a film that's got so many miracles in it, when you have the great deluge, and the animals two by two, you need someone who's telling the truth. And that's the thing about Russell, he's so grounded and dignified and real. He brought a reality to the film," explained the 45-year old director, whose past work includes The Wrestler, Requiem For A Dream and Pi.
Douglas Booth, who plays Noah's son Shem in the film, said that Crowe's physicality and strength, internally and externally, made the film's story seem possible.

"[Crowe] has a great gravity about him. He has a great strength, a power. So he can bring that to [Noah]. You really believe this is a guy that could accomplish this task," said Booth, 21.
