“I did get all of my college acceptances and I’m keeping them close to the belt as of right now, but I got into every college I applied to,” Shahidi recently told Seventeen. “So that’s really exciting. I found all of that out last week. My college plans are all up in the air, but I will choose within the next month.”
The teen, who plays Zoey on the ABC comedy, also explained her plan to pursue a double major in African American studies and sociology.
“As much as I want free time, I love to challenge myself,” said the young star, who is yet to decide on a minor. “And so it really goes back to the point that I want to study as much as possible and [doing] a double major is the solution.”
College isn’t the only thing will be keeping Shahidi busy -- she is also hoping to star in a Black-ish spin-off exploring Zoey’s college journey. ET confirmed in January that the project was “in very early stages.”
“[It’s] is up to the heads of ABC, but we want to explore and see where Zoey is going,” she told the magazine.<p>“The fact that Zoey is college-aged [makes it] important to address that, because on a college campus -- given the socio-political landscape of our society at the moment -- we're not only dealing with race policy that we got from Black-ish, [but also] the intersectionality of race, gender, sexuality and political views and ideals. And so [filming on] a college campus and having Zoey experience life as an independent would a perfect place to discuss that.”
