Emily Blunt is ready to step into the sensible heels of Mary Poppins! The 34-year-old actress spoke with ET’s Cameron Mathison on Saturday at the D23 Expo Day, where she debuted the first official footage of herself as the iconic nanny.

“The audience is so receptive and sweet and joyful, so they are the best kind of platform for you to launch a clip of your film,” Blunt told ET of the reaction to the 30-second clip, which features her lifting up an umbrella and smiling in her brand new Poppins costume. “We just finished a month ago, so it's still very real and present for me, and, you know, very new so it was very moving to see it with reacting like that.”
The new musical, which is not a remake of the 1964 film starring Julie Andrews, will feature all new musical numbers, a whole new cast of characters, and even a different time period – Depression Era London.
Blunt was mostly scared to try her hand at dancing.
“There's a huge dance number, which was slightly intimidating for me,” Blunt admitted. “I think I did alright. I mean we did it 55 thousand times, so I hope they got something.”
Blunt shares daughters Hazel, 3, and Violet, 1, with her husband, John Krasinski. And while she thinks her eldest has a slight idea of what her playing Mary Poppins means, she hasn’t seen the original film.

“I mean, God knows what she thinks I do for a living,” Blunt quipped. “It must just be so confusing, you know? ‘Cause her version of movies is animated films, so she hasn't seen the original Mary Poppins yet. Yeah I'm sort of selfishly wanting her to wait for my version.”
Mary Poppins Returns will hit theaters Christmas Day 2018 and co-stars Lin-Manuel Miranda, Colin Firth, and Meryl Streep.
