Selena Gomez's Friends Still Don't Approve of Justin Bieber, Source Says (Exclusive)

A source tells ET that the actress tries to keep her friends and relationship separate.

It's still going to be awhile before Justin Bieber gets the stamp of approval from Selena Gomez's friends.

Amid rumors that the on-again, off-again couple has broken up once again, a source tells ET that the actress' closest pals are not huge fans of the "Sorry" singer.

"There's a big crew of people [in Selena's circle] who really don't like Justin and they especially don't like him with Selena," the source says. "A lot of her friends really don't like him. They think he's bad news for Selena and don't approve of the relationship."

The friends who aren't #TeamBieber are Selena's pals in the industry who, the source says, have witnessed him bring out the worst in her. "They think he’s a bad influence on her and she becomes really dependent on him," the source tells ET. "She's so generous and loyal and puts 100% of herself into everything, including her relationships, which isn't always the healthiest."

"[Justin] does care what her friends and family think and has tried to win them over, but some of them are just over it," the source adds. "They're there for Selena and support her no matter what, but don’t feel like they need to welcome back Justin. If you notice, Selena keeps her friends and Justin separate -- when she’s with Justin, it’s just Justin, and when she’s with her old friends, it’s just them. They don’t really overlap anymore."

ET previously reported that Gomez’s friends and family, particularly her mother, Mandy Teefey, struggled with the couple’s reunion back in January. Since then, Gomez has been trying her best to "keep the peace" between Bieber and her friend circle. The only place Gomez's friends really overlap with Bieber is church.

"They do have some friends in common from church, and they hang out in a group with that crew. That's been a really positive thing for them," the source reveals. "She’s not going to abandon herself or her friends for Justin, that’s a big difference this time around. She’s making a point not to put him ahead of everything and everyone else. Spending quality time with her close friends is important to her."

And that's exactly what the "Wolves" singer has been doing as of late. She was photographed aboard a yacht on Monday, looking happy and healthy while vacationing in Sydney, Australia, with some of her friends.

As for where her relationship stands with Bieber in the future? "Selena is a people pleaser," the source claims. "She hates having people disappointed in her. Eventually, something will have to give."

Gomez, 25, and Bieber, 24, were last spotted publicly together on Feb. 28, and rumors have recently started swirling that the two have called it quits. An additional source told ET earlier this month, however, that Jelena had not "broken up," as some reports claimed. They are "still together," the source said at the time, but Gomez is simply taking a break from work and any obligations to spend time with her family and out of Los Angeles, as she is feeling overwhelmed with all the attention she's gotten from her rekindled romance with Bieber, health and family troubles.

"Selena is very delicate; her 'comeback' to the spotlight has been tough -- especially with the interest in her personal life with Justin and her mother," the source said. "She is taking time to herself. This is not the first time she has done this."
