The hilarious actor will be stepping into the prestigious role this summer!

The MTV Movie & TV Awards are going to be hosted by a bona fide superhero this year!

On Tuesday, it was announced that Zachary Levi, the actor who plays the titular crimefighter in DC's Shazam!will be playing ringleader at the awards show on June 17.

The 38-year-old actor is following some pretty impressive footsteps with the coveted gig. Everyone from Dwayne Johnson, to Kevin Hart, to Amy Schumer has tackled the job in the past. Just last year, Tiffany Haddish headed up the big night.

Although Levi has been acting for years, taking on the role of Shazam, a superhero grappling with coming of age while discovering his superpowers, pretty well set the leading man on the path to superstar status. While at the press junket for the film in March, he chatted with ET about his newfound "zaddy" status.

"No, I'm not ready for it," he admitted, later adding, "I don't think about that stuff." When it was suggested that he could be in the running for Sexiest Man of the Year, he pumped the brakes, saying, "Now let's not get ahead of ourselves."

"That's not real life," he continued. "None of that is real life. All that stuff is just the icing on the cake of the not real life that all of this is. So if people wanna put me in the same conversation as all those guys (the Hemsworth brothers), rock 'n' roll. I just am gonna keep doing what I think is the right thing in my life."

However, although Levi shies away from his chiseled superhero appeal, his Tangled co-star, Mandy Moore, says he's always been a larger-than-life guy.

"He always had it in him," the This Is Us actress gushed at PaleyFest in March. "He was always a superhero in my mind. Maybe the world is just finally starting to take notice."

"I adore him. I think he's one of the most phenomenally talented gentlemen out there," she continued. "He's a total sweetheart. I'm so happy for him. I can't wait to go see his movie and support him. I think he's, like, tailor-made for a buff superhero."

The 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards air Monday, June 17 at 9 p.m. ET/PT from Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
