Simone Biles is Engaged to Boyfriend Jonathan Owens: 'The Easiest Yes'

ET also spoke with Zohaid Muhammad from ZoFrost & Co, who designed Biles' stunning ring.

Simone Biles is engaged! The decorated Olympian shared the news with her fans on Tuesday, revealing that she and boyfriend Jonathan Owens got engaged on Valentine's Day.

Biles announced the news with a slideshow of photos on her Instagram page that showed the 26-year-old Houston Texans safety proposing in a gazebo in Houston, Texas. The gymnast wore a black mini dress and her beau sported a gray suit. She also shared a video of her new oval-cut diamond ring, which features a diamond-encrusted band.

"THE EASIEST YES I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married FIANCÉ 💍🥺🥲🤎," the gymnast captioned the series of photos.

Owens commented on the post, "Ready for forever with you ❤️."

In his own post celebrating the engagement, Owens wrote, "Woke up this morning with a fiancée," adding that his bride-to-be had "no clue what was coming."

Biles' Instagram Story gave a brief look into the couple's Monday celebration, including a snapshot of the couple beaming into the camera and Biles sporting a silver necklace with a diamond pendant 'J' and a bouquet of red roses in the shape of a heart. "Thanks babe," Biles captioned the photo.

ET spoke with Zohaid Muhammad from ZoFrost & Co, who designed Biles' stunning ring. Muhammad shared that Owens, who he's known for years, reached out to him to a couple months ago to create the custom 3 carat oval diamond.

"We started the process a couple of months ago and then he handpicked the stone himself," the designer shared. "I got multiple stones to show him and he handpicked the one that he thought was perfect for her. Obviously he wanted some extra real twists, which we added like a halo around the center stone, which in the video you can't really see clearly but there is a halo going around the center stone."

Not getting into specifics, Muhammad explained that, depending on the size and clarity of the diamond, a ring like this could cost around $90,000 to $100,000. He also shared that designing the actual ring took about two weeks, but selecting the main stone took "about a month or so."

"The stone was the main thing for Jonathan because he wanted to make sure the clarity and the cut of the diamond was perfect," he said. "And something that obviously shines and blings, so the designing took about two weeks."

Owens was adamant about having the halo beneath the stone, and didn't want the band to be too thick. He also opted for a three-row pava band instead of a single row.

"It's a pava setting band that he requested in like the last week," he shared. "Previously it was a prong setting band with a single row going all the way around. But this one, the pava, it has three rows. It covers the side of the ring as well."

The ring was a complete surprise for Biles, he shared, adding that following her engagement she reached out to him.

"She did reach out to me. She was like, 'I love the ring!' and even on Instagram she was thanking me and stuff," he expressed. "She's really happy. And Jonathan, actually last night, gave me a call and he was like, 'Man, you made her night. Everything was perfect, thank you so much.' I mean, that also made her day and also made my day because it's a big deal making a ring for an Olympian. So I'm glad they gave me the opportunity to work with them."

Biles and Owens made their relationship Instagram official in August 2020 and celebrated their first anniversary as a couple in 2021, but were unable to be together because Biles was competing for Team USA at the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. The duo has always been very supportive of each other on social media, especially during their hardest moments.

When Biles exited the gymnastics team competition at the Tokyo Summer Olympics after the first rotation and later decided to withdraw from the all-around competition, Owens took to Instagram to show his support for her.

"Imma ride with you through whatever baby ❤️," he wrote at the time. "Your strength and courage is unmatched and you inspire me more and more everyday SB 🤞🏽You always gone be my champ baby and don't you ever forget that, I love you so much and I can't wait till you come home and I get to see that beautiful smile again. You know I'm always here for you baby ❤️❤️."

Congratulations to the happy couple!
