Daniela Ruah's 'I Hate Skinny' Mentality

"NCIS: Los Angeles" star Daniela Ruah delves into her alluring trademark, her racial background and why she doesn't like being skinny in a new interview with Esquire.

The Portuguese-American actress was born in the U.S. and moved to Portugal when she was five. She began working on telenovelas there 11 years later.

"I was always such a skinny kid, so I kind of grew up with an 'I hate skinny' mentality," said Daniela.

Fans of "NCIS: Los Angeles" might notice something unique about Daniela's gaze - her right eye is completely dark.

"It's a birthmark called nevus of Ota," Daniela explained. "It covers the whole white of my eye and darkens it."

Daniela dished that it "drives [her] crazy" when photographers artificially add whites to her eye using Photoshop.

You can see Daniela in all her natural glory when her Esquire photo spread hits stands August 16.
