The small screen just picked up two Oscar winners!
Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon have signed on to star in David E. Kelley's (Boston Legal, Ally McBeal) new limited series Big Little Lies, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series, which has yet to find a home on a network or streaming service, is based on Liane Moriarty's No. 1 New York Times bestselling book of the same name. The novel "centers on three mothers to kindergartners whose seemingly perfect lives unravel to a murder-mystery that takes place during a disastrous parents' night at an elementary school fundraiser."
THR reports that this past August, both ladies' production companies, Kidman's Blossom Films and Witherspoon's Pacific Standard, optioned the rights to the book as a potential feature film. Now they'll both be executive producing the series alongside Kelley.
Neither Kidman nor Witherspoon is new to bringing novels to life. Witherspoon's production company just made both David Fincher's Gone Girl and Wild, with the latter earning her Oscar buzz for her turn as Cheryl Strayed. Meanwhile, Kidman's Blossom Films is gearing up for HBO's The Silent Wife and is working on a Dusty Springfield biography.

A-list actors have recently been flocking to the TV medium as is evident in the new True Detective casting announcement earlier this week. Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams will star in the second season of the critically acclaimed show.
