Kristin Cavallari Talks 'Laguna Beach': I Felt Very Used and Manipulated By MTV

Though Kristin Cavallari shot to fame by starring in MTV's 2004 reality show Laguna Beach, it turns out she doesn't look back on those times with the fondest of memories.

In a candid new interview for Oprah Winfrey's show Oprah: Where Are They Now?, she calls out MTV producers for manipulating her love life for the sake of TV drama.

"You know, Laguna Beach was tough because I felt very used and manipulated," she says bluntly. "Basically, my boyfriend at the time [Stephen Colletti] -- producers would have him go and take out Lauren Conrad -- take her to dinner, bring her flowers, which never would have happened if it wasn’t for the show, for MTV."

Laguna Beach focused on the lives of an affluent group of teens living in Laguna Beach, Calif., and ran for three years. One of the biggest plot points of the show was the love triangle between Kristin, her boyfriend Stephen Colletti, and Lauren Conrad. Conrad, or "LC" as she was known on the show, was often portrayed as the good girl as opposed to the more outspoken Cavallari.

"Being 16, 17 in high school, not really knowing how to handle your emotions, or even realizing what's going on, you know, I put up a wall," Cavallari says about her villain reputation on the show. "And I really put up a tough exterior because I felt like they were really trying to take advantage of me, and it was a really difficult time for me, so when I saw it on air, and saw how they represented me, I was really, really upset."

"I cried for hours and hours and hours after I saw the first episode," she reveals.

Cavallari says she was so traumatized by the experience, that she now thinks you should be required to be at least 18 years old to do a reality show.

However, the experience didn't stop Cavallari from playing the villain again on The Hills after Conrad left the Laguna Beach spin-off.

But clearly, the kids of Laguna Beach are all grown-up these days. Cavallari, now 27, has been married to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler since June 2013. The couple has two adorable sons together, Camden Jack, 2, and Jaxon Wyatt, who was born in May.

Cavallari's one-time nemesis, Conrad, is also obviously well past the Laguna Beach love triangle, marrying lawyer William Tell in September.
