Every year, thousands of fans come together to celebrate comic books, superheroes and pop culture during San Diego Comic-Con, where some of Hollywood's biggest studios turn out to offer a long-awaited glimpse at the blockbuster films and hit TV shows that soon will be coming to the big and small screens.

This year, movie fans are set to get a look at some action and horror epics -- including the hotly anticipated IT: Chapter Two -- as well as the long-awaited comedy sequel Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, from director Kevin Smith.

When it comes to the small screen, fans are hoping for a sneak peek at some of the most exciting TV shows premiering and returning later this year, including The Walking Dead, Westworld, and CBS All Access' Star Trek: Picard,

Here's a look at some of the biggest and best trailers revealed during this year's Comic-Con:

Snowpiercer

Based on the French graphic novel, the TBS series is set in post-apocalyptic world, where the survivors are living on a train that travels around the globe. The ensemble cast includes Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Lena Hall, Steven Ogg while Graeme Manson serves as executive producer and showrunner. While the show hasn't even debuted yet, it's already been renewed for a second season. Snowpiercer premieres in early 2020.

The Witcher

Based on the best-selling fantasy series of books, The Witcher stars Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan. The Netflix original series centers around famed monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia, who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

21 Bridges

Starring Chadwick Boseman and Sienna Miller, the new film follows an embattled NYPD detective who is involved in a citywide manhunt for a pair of cop killers after uncovering a massive and unexpected conspiracy. As darkness falls over the city, the lines in hunt become blurred as the detective finds himself being pursued. As the hunt intensifies, the city takes extreme measures to prevent any escape from Manhattan by closing all 21 bridges that access the island. 21 Bridges is in theaters in September.

His Dark Materials

HBO debuted the first official trailer for His Dark Materials , the upcoming drama series based on the popular Phillip Pullman novels of the same name . The new footage featured stars Dafne Keen, James McAvoy (who got the job "last minute"), Ruth Wilson and Lin-Manuel Miranda as they navigate the fantastically epic world, which producers are touting as an "anti-superhero story."

For the cast, the opportunity to engross themselves into the "roller-coaster ride" of the His Dark Materials universe was a no-brainer. Miranda revealed the personal connection he had with the novels, sharing Thursday during the show's Hall H panel that he and his wife, Vanessa, read the books together when they started dating. "It's sort of our falling in love story. They hold a very special place in my heart," he said. (His first scene, by the way, involves dueting opposite himself/his daemon.) His Dark Materials debuts this fall.

IT Chapter Two

A day before Comic-Con kicked off in earnest, Warner. Bros. hosted ScareDiego, a pre-Con panel dedicated to its upcoming horror flicks, and this year they showcased IT Chapter Two, the second part of director Andrés Muschietti big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's iconic horror story. The kids we met in Chapter 1 are all grown up, and are forced to return to Derry to face off yet again against the sadistic, villainous Pennywise the Dancing Clown. It: Chapter Two hits theaters Sept. 6.

Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

On Thursday, fans were shown the first look at the latest chapter in Jay and Silent Bob's ongoing film saga that has included appearances in Chasing Amy, Clerks 2, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Mallrats, ever since making their debut in Clerks 25 years ago. In the upcoming film, Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith reprise their titular stoner icons for an all-new adventure as they embark on another cross-country mission to stop Hollywood from rebooting an old film based on them. It's all very meta! Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is in theaters Oct. 15 and 17, 2019.

Top Gun: Maverick

Tom Cruise reprises his role as Peter "Maverick" Mitchell in the sequel to Top Gun. While not much has been revealed about the plot, the film takes place 34 years after the events of the original film, with Captain Mitchell guiding Goose's son, Bradley (Miles Teller), through the pilot training program. In addition to Cruise and Teller, the film also stars Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman and Ed Harris. Top Gun: Maverick is in theaters 2020.

Watchmen

HBO released a new trailer for their TV adaptation of the beloved graphic novel Watchmen over the weekend, offering fans more insights into the doomsday-centered series. The new clip includes references to Dr. Manhattan as well as a number of other costumed heroes fans of the source material will certainly recognize. The trailer also includes Rorschach delivering one of his most famous lines: "All the whores and politicians will look up and shout ‘Save us,’ and I’ll look down and whisper 'No.'" The show stars Regina King, Don Johnson, Jeremy Irons, Tim Blake Nelson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen Jr. and more. Watchmen will premiere later in 2019.

Star Trek: Picard

At Comic-Con 2019, a new trailer for the Sir Patrick Stewart-led Star Trek: Picard was unveiled, shining a light on where the renowned Starfleet leader has been all these years. While new images of his vineyard are teased, the beloved character states: "Data sacrificed his life for me. These past few years I feel like I don't belong here." Picard is also visited by a mysterious and powerful young woman, played by Isa Briones. Viewers learn that her character is both revered and loathed. One Starfleet member proclaims: "She is the end of all. She is the destroyer!" Star Trek: Picard arrives in early 2020.

Mayans M.C.

Fans of the first season of FX's Mayan's M.C. are in for a wild ride with the show's second outing. The trailer for the new season, which dropped on Friday, showcases loyalties being questioned, explosive action and the promise of numerous revelations. At one point, E.Z. (J.D. Pardo), tells his brother Angel (Clayton Carden) that he knows who killed their mother. In another scene, their father Felipe (Edward James Olmos) discusses his violent past in Mexico and his desire to keep his past behind him. The promo also features loads of shootouts and adrenaline-pumping chase scenes that should please the show's fans. Season two of Mayans M.C. debuts Sept. 3 on FX.

Westworld

After a teaser trailer featured only Aaron Paul's new character, fans are finally getting a real look at what they can expect to see in the upcoming third season of Westworld. Premiered at the San Diego festival, the new trailer teases that the next season swaps out the Wild West for war -- WWII to be exact. Maeve (Thandie Newton) battles Nazis as Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) appears to be on a killing spree in the real world. Meanwhile, Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) explains that he was brought back to find "someone who could help me. Someone strong enough to stop her if it comes to that." Season three of Westworld arrives in 2020.

The Man in the High Castle

The fourth and final season of the Amazon original will be rocked by war and revolution as the Resistance becomes a full-blown rebellion and a new Black insurgent movement emerges to fight the forces of Nazism and imperialism. The series stars Rufus Sewell, Joel De La Fuente, Jason O’Mara, Chelah Horsdal, and Frances Turner. The new season debuts Nov. 15, 2019.

The Walking Dead

Season ten of the hit AMC series marks big changes for the show, with the departure of Danai Gurira (Michonne) and the addition to new faces -- Thora Birch as Gamma, a Whisperer sentry fiercely protective of Alpha; and Kevin Carroll as Virgil, a highly intelligent and resourceful man who is desperately trying to get home to his family. Season ten of The Walking Dead premieres Oct. 6, 2019.

The Walking Dead Movie

In addition to the Walking Dead spinoffs -- Fear the Walking Dead and an upcoming new series about the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse -- the AMC franchise is preparing for the release of its first theatrical film. While still untitled, the first teaser reveals that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) has returned. No other details were released at this time.

The Terror: Infamy

The AMC anthology series returns with an all-new season, this time about a series of bizarre deaths that haunt a Japanese American community. According to the network, "the series is one of the first depicting the internment of Japanese Americans on such a massive scale -- complete with authentically recreated camps in scope and scale as post-WWII." The series stars Derek Mio, Kiki Sukezane, Cristina Rodlo, Shingo Usami, Naoko Mori, Miki Ishikawa and George Takei, who also serves as a consultant. The Terror: Infamy premieres Aug. 12, 2019.

The Expanse

Now on Amazon, the sci-fi series returns with season four about the lives of Ceres detective Joe Miller (Thomas Jane), accidental ship captain James Holden (Steven Strait) and U.N. politician Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo), who are linked by the disappearance of Julie Mao as they attempt to unravel the single greatest conspiracy of all time. With the Ring Gates now open to thousands of new planets, a blood-soaked gold rush begins, igniting new conflicts between Earth, Mars, and the Belt. Meanwhile, on one unexplored planet, deadly new threats from the protomolecule emerge. The Expanse season four premieres Dec. 13, 2019.
