<p><a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/jason-segel" target="_blank">Jason Segel</a> fans are in for a puzzling time!</p>

<p>It's been a minute since the&nbsp;<em><a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/205155_this_is_us_writers_have_a_new_how_i_met_your_mother_spinoff_the_works" target="_blank">How I Met Your Mother</a>&nbsp;</em>star was on our screens, but the 38-year-old is&nbsp;set to come back in&nbsp;<em>Dispatches From Elsewhere</em>, announced by AMC at the summer Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, California, on Saturday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The new show is billed in a release as an&nbsp;anthology series about a group of people who "stumble into a puzzle hiding just behind the veil of everyday life. They will come to find that the mystery winds far deeper than they ever imagined."</p>

<p>AMC president of original programming called the show "a truly unique premise and peopled by vivid characters," adding that it is driven by Segel's "wildly creative vision." It all&nbsp;sounds like a big departure from some of the actor's previous outings, where he is more known for goofy, comedic characters like those he's played in&nbsp;<em>HIMYM, Forgetting Sarah Marshall</em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>I Love You, Man.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p>Segel created and will star in the show, and it&nbsp;begins shooting early next year. This marks Segel's return to series television since&nbsp;<em>HIMYM&nbsp;</em>wrapped in 2014.</p>

Jason Segel to Star in AMC Mystery Anthology, 'Dispatches From Elsewhere'

<p class="p1"><a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/julia-roberts" target="_blank">Julia Roberts</a> has a new TV show!&nbsp;</p>

<p class="p1">Looking relaxed in a pale blue pantsuit and rocking her hair in loose blonde waves, the Academy Award-winning&nbsp;actress spoke to reporters at the summer Television Critics Association about her move from the big screen to the small, in the upcoming Amazon series&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etonline.com/julia-roberts-is-ready-to-dig-deep-in-1st-homecoming-teaser-watch-106447" target="_blank"><em>Homecoming</em></a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="p1">Set to debut in November, <em>Homecoming</em>,&nbsp;which&nbsp;is based on the popular podcast of the same name, follows Roberts' character, Heidi Bergman&nbsp;-- a caseworker at a facility for soldiers returning from war -- and her complex relationship with one of the returning veterans, played by newcomer Stephan James. In a second timeline four years later, where Heidi has left the facility, she is questioned by a Department of Defense auditor&nbsp;who begins to unravel the reasons behind her departure.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="p1">"I just think that what Eli [Horowitz]&nbsp;and Micah [Bloomberg]&nbsp;have written is such a great, sort of old-fashioned yarn set in this really modern conundrum of a morality play," Roberts said.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="p1"><em>Homecoming&nbsp;</em>reunites the 50-year-old actress with her&nbsp;<em>My Best Friend's Wedding</em>&nbsp;co-star Dermot Mulroney, who, she joked, is "finally" playing her boyfriend. "It only took 30 years!"</p>

<p class="p1">The Amazon series marks the first television outing for the big screen star, but she said it was the opportunity to collaborate with director Sam Esmail on a more in-depth story and "unravel things for people" that drew her to the role.</p>

<p class="p1">And the chance to work in television was a draw in itself. "For me, it's nice to bring something into people's homes. I feel like we're a delivery service, delivering entertainment right to their doorstep," she joked.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="p1">Although the experience of filming the show was similar to being on-set for a movie shoot, Roberts said it was "a great mental challenge" every day in helping to realize Esmail's directorial vision. It's not just about having ourselves prepared, it's about can you be prepared and walk up and down 10 flights of stairs and keep it going, and be on the phone, and prepare a 10-course meal, and juggling with your feet, she said. "So it was exciting for the crew to figure out ways to accomplish his dreams as for all of us, I think."&nbsp;</p>

<p class="p2"><em>Homecoming</em>&nbsp;debuts on Amazon Prime Video on November 2, 2018.&nbsp;</p>

Julia Roberts Rocks Blonde Locks, Talks Her Return to TV in 'Homecoming'

<p>Big news for Middle Earth fans.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Amazon has picked its writers to plunge us back into the shadows of Mount Doom for its epic <a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/lord-rings" target="_blank"><em>Lord of the Rings</em></a>&nbsp;adaptation, tapping writing duo JD Payne and Patrick McKay for the honors.&nbsp;Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke made the announcement at the summer Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, on Saturday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Payne and McKay have been writing together since their high school debate class and have recently worked on&nbsp;<em>Star&nbsp;Trek 4&nbsp;</em>with J.J. Abrams, and the upcoming&nbsp;<em>Jungle Cruise&nbsp;</em>adaptation with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Emily Blunt.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a press release, the duo said they were "absolutely thrilled" to be on board. "We feel like Frodo, setting out from the Shire, with a great responsibility in our care -- it is the beginning of the adventure of a lifetime."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.etonline.com/lord-rings-amazon-adapting-jrr-tolkien-fantasy-novels-new-series-90973" target="_blank">new series was announced</a> last November and is slated to include a multi-season exploration&nbsp;of&nbsp;Middle Earth prior to the events of&nbsp;<em>The Fellowship of the Ring</em>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“<em>The Lord of the Rings</em>&nbsp;is a&nbsp;cultural phenomenon that has captured the imagination of generations of fans through literature and the big screen,” said Amazon Scripted studio head Sharon Tal Yguado at the time.&nbsp; “We are honored to be working with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins and New Line on this exciting collaboration for television and are thrilled to be taking the&nbsp;<em>Lord of the Rings</em>&nbsp;fans on a new epic journey in Middle Earth.”</p>

<p>No word yet on when we'll be seeing Hobbits, Elves or second breakfast on our small screens yet, but last year there was a mini-reunion of the Peter Jackson&nbsp;<em>LOTR</em>&nbsp;cast at Comic-Con. Take a look in the video below.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When Sasha Pieterse said she had a "princess dress" for <a href="https://www.etonline.com/pretty-little-liars-star-sasha-pieterse-is-married-103018" target="_blank">her wedding</a>, she wasn't kidding!&nbsp;</p>

<p>The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/pretty-little-liars" target="_blank"><em>Pretty Little Liars</em></a>&nbsp;alum showed off her gorgeous off-the-shoulder wedding gown in an Instagram video on Tuesday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the slow-motion 180-degree look at the dress, <a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/sasha-pieterse" target="_blank">Pieterse</a>&nbsp;and her new husband, Hudson Sheaffer, wear their wedding attire while gold confetti rains down around them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 22-year-old actress married Sheaffer in a ceremony at a castle in Ireland on Sunday.&nbsp;ET's Katie Krause <a href="https://www.etonline.com/pretty-little-liars-star-sasha-pieterse-is-married-103018" target="_blank">caught up with Pieterse</a> earlier this month, where she dished on her wedding plans and dress choice, inspired by the castle location.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

Sasha Pieterse Gives a 180 Look at Her Gorgeous Dress In First Post-Wedding Pic

<p>Sometimes things just work out the way they're meant to!</p>

<p>Earlier this month <a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/oliver-hudson" target="_blank">Oliver Hudson</a> revealed that <a href="https://www.etonline.com/oliver-hudson-reveals-which-hobby-stopped-him-getting-cast-as-jack-pearson-in-this-is-us-102265" target="_blank">he skipped out</a> on a&nbsp;<em>This Is Us</em>&nbsp;chemistry test with Mandy Moore <a href="https://www.etonline.com/oliver-hudson-reveals-which-hobby-stopped-him-getting-cast-as-jack-pearson-in-this-is-us-102265" target="_blank">to go fishing</a> -- but Milo Ventimiglia, to whom the role eventually went, said&nbsp;"things worked out okay" in the end.</p>

<p>ET's Nischelle Turner caught up with the actor at the&nbsp;<em><a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/us" target="_blank">This Is Us</a>&nbsp;</em>Emmy FYC event in Los Angeles&nbsp;on Tuesday, where she broke the news of Hudson's would-be turn as Jack Pearson.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Oh, no kidding," the 40-year-old said, revealing that he had never skipped an audition himself.&nbsp;"I feel like when you get the opportunity to be creative, I embrace it," he told ET. "And I show up -- even if you're not going to get the job, you've got to show up and, you know, put your heart into it."&nbsp;</p>

<p>But that doesn't mean he nailed every audition he's been to. "And it was upsetting as an actor, because it's something you wanted, a character I knew that I could play, I could pull off," he said. "But then, as it turns out, things worked out okay."&nbsp;</p>

<p>And they did!&nbsp;<em>This Is Us&nbsp;</em>has gone on to commercial and critical success, and the role earned Ventimiglia his first Emmy nomination in 2017 -- although the trophy ultimately went to his castmate, <a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/sterling-k-brown" target="_blank">Sterling K. Brown</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Things also worked out for Hudson, however. For one thing, the&nbsp;41-year-old actor&nbsp;landed&nbsp;a 271-pound tuna -- "the biggest I've ever caught," on his fishing trip,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etonline.com/oliver-hudson-shares-unexpected-upside-to-missing-out-on-this-is-us-role-exclusive-102325" target="_blank">as he told ET</a> earlier this month -- and he also landed a lead role in ABCs&nbsp;<em>Splitting Up Together.&nbsp;</em></p>

<p><em>This Is Us</em>&nbsp;returns to NBC for its third season this fall.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The&nbsp;<em>Harry Potter</em>&nbsp;alum and&nbsp;<em>Glee&nbsp;</em>star have split after just a few months of dating, according to <a href="https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/emma-watson-and-chord-overstreet-split/" target="_blank">multiple reports</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p>ET has reached out to Watson's rep.</p>

<p>Watson&nbsp;was <a href="https://www.etonline.com/emma-watson-reportedly-dating-former-glee-star-chord-overstreet-98047" target="_blank">initially linked</a> to the Nashville native in March, when they were <a href="https://www.etonline.com/emma-watson-reportedly-dating-former-glee-star-chord-overstreet-98047" target="_blank">spotted holding hands</a> in public on a day out in Los Angeles, California. But the two had been seen out together several times beforehand, including leaving a live music gig together in February.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Overstreet had been linked to other Hollywood stars in the past, including <a href="https://www.etonline.com/news/116977_Chord_Overstreet_Talks_Romance_with_Emma_Roberts" target="_blank">Emma Roberts</a> and Rumer Willis, while Watson split with her previous boyfriend of two years, William "Mack" Knight, in 2017.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The&nbsp;<em>Beauty and the Beast</em>&nbsp;star opened up about her approach to managing relationships in the spotlight during a&nbsp;<em>Vogue</em>&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etonline.com/emma-watson-splits-boyfriend-william-mack-knight-91643" target="_blank">interview last year</a>:&nbsp;"I want to be consistent: I can't talk about my boyfriend in an interview and then expect people not to take paparazzi pictures of me walking around outside my home," she said at the time. <p>More bad news for the&nbsp;<em>Roseanne&nbsp;</em>team.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the wake of the show's <a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-canceled-by-abc-after-roseanne-barrs-racist-tweet-103151" target="_blank">cancellation</a>&nbsp;after a <a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-barr-leaves-twitter-apologizes-after-racially-charged-tweet-sparks-outrage-103150" target="_blank">racist tweet</a> by its namesake star, Roseanne Barr, ET can confirm that&nbsp;episodes&nbsp;from&nbsp;<em>Roseanne's</em>&nbsp;original nine-season run will be pulled from Viacom cable channels&nbsp;starting Wednesday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As of Tuesday afternoon,&nbsp;<em>Roseanne </em>show listings and information&nbsp;had already been removed from the websites of Viacom-owned channels, including Paramount Network, CMT and TV Land.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Additionally, ET has learned that Hulu supports ABC's cancellation, and is removing the <em>Roseanne</em> reboot from its platform.</p>

<p>The moves by Viacom and Hulu compound&nbsp;problems for Barr. Earlier in the day, ABC abruptly canceled its current&nbsp;revival of&nbsp;<em>Roseanne&nbsp;</em>and her agency, ICM, <a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-barr-dropped-by-agents-amid-racist-tweet-fallout-103159" target="_blank">dropped her from representation</a>, after the controversial comedian made a <a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-barr-leaves-twitter-apologizes-after-racially-charged-tweet-sparks-outrage-103150" target="_blank">racist comment on Twitter</a> about former Obama administration adviser&nbsp;Valerie Jarrett.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Barr, 65, described&nbsp;Jarrett, a black woman born in Iran, as the child of&nbsp;the "Muslim brotherhood &amp; planet of the apes."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The backlash was swift, with many celebrities and those associated with the&nbsp;<em>Roseanne</em>&nbsp;revival rushing to condemn the comment, including&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-actor-michael-fishman-reacts-to-show-cancellation-i-feel-devastated-103163" target="_blank">Michael Fishman</a>, who played Barr's onscreen son and called her words "reprehensible and intolerable."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"My character was designed to represent the inclusive nature of my views. To represent portions of society&nbsp;often marginalized," he wrote in a <a target="_blank">statement on Twitter</a>. "In this moment it is important to be clear. We must stand-up against; bias, hatred, bigotry, and ignorance to make society a better place for all."&nbsp;</p>

'Roseanne' Reruns Pulled From Viacom Cable Channels After Racist Tweet

<p>More&nbsp;<em>Roseanne</em>&nbsp;stars are speaking out against racism.&nbsp;</p>

<p><em>Roseanne&nbsp;</em>actor Michael Fishman is <a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-canceled-ava-duvernay-debra-messing-and-more-stars-react-103154" target="_blank">the latest person</a> to step forward and condemn <a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-barr-leaves-twitter-apologizes-after-racially-charged-tweet-sparks-outrage-103150" target="_blank">Barr's racist tweets</a> on Tuesday, which resulted in the show's <a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-canceled-by-abc-after-roseanne-barrs-racist-tweet-103151" target="_blank">abrupt cancelation by ABC</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.etonline.com/people/michael-fishman" target="_blank">Fishman</a>, who played the Conner's son D.J. in the original series and <a href="https://www.etonline.com/tv/roseanne" target="_blank">revival</a>, shared a heartfelt statement on Twitter&nbsp;expressing his "vehement" condemnation of the controversial comedian's&nbsp;words.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Today is one of the hardest in my life. I feel devastated, not for the end of the <em>Roseanne </em>show, but for all those who poured their hearts&nbsp;and souls into our jobs, and the audience that welcomed us into their homes. Our cast, crew, writers, and production staff strived for inclusiveness, with numerous storylines designed to reflect inclusiveness. The words of one person do not exemplify the thinking of all involved," he wrote.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I condemn these statements vehemently," the 36-year-old actor continued.&nbsp;"They are reprehensible and intolerable, contrdicting [sic] my beliefs and outlook on life and society. I have always lived and taught my children to be inclusive.&nbsp;I believe our show strived to embrace different backgrounds and opinions, through open dialogue."</p>

<p>"While I am going to miss being part of the ABC family, I believe that to sit back, or remain silent in an attempt to distance myself from the actions/statements of others would unintentionally endorse or placate those statements which I find truly offensive," he wrote.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The actor closed out by referring to his on-screen character&nbsp;who, in the latest season, is parenting a mixed-race daughter, Mary, with his African American wife, Geena.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"My character was designed to represent the inclusive nature of my views. To represent portions of soceity&nbsp;[sic] often marginalized," he wrote. "In this moment it is important to be clear. We must stand-up against; bias, hatred, bigotry, and ignorance to make society a better place for all."&nbsp;</p>

<p><em>Roseanne&nbsp;</em>executive producer Bruce Helford also distanced himself from the comments in a statement issued through his&nbsp;agent at United Talent Agency:&nbsp;“On behalf of all the writers and producers, we worked incredibly hard to create an amazing show. I was personally horrified and saddened by the comments and in no way do they reflect the values of the people who worked so hard to make this the iconic show that it is."</p>

<p>In a statement, co-executive producer Bruce Rasmussen&nbsp;echoed those sentiments: "I’m disgusted by Roseanne’s tweet and saddened that her actions have put an end to the incredibly hard work of hundreds of people.&nbsp;I’m proud of the show we produced."</p>

<p>Other celebrities, as well as those associated with the show, have also <a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-canceled-ava-duvernay-debra-messing-and-more-stars-react-103154" target="_blank">spoken up</a> in the wake of the tweets&nbsp;and Barr's agency, ICM, has&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-barr-dropped-by-agents-amid-racist-tweet-fallout-103159" target="_blank">dropped her from representation.</a>&nbsp;</p>

<p>A&nbsp;<em>Roseanne&nbsp;</em>production <a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-canceled-by-abc-after-roseanne-barrs-racist-tweet-103151" target="_blank">source told ET</a> that people who worked on the show are “horrified” by Barr's&nbsp;racist comment, adding that perhaps the reboot “wasn’t meant to be.”</p>

<p>“We can’t believe Roseanne put the entire crew in jeopardy,” the source said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Barr's now-deleted tweets were aimed towards former Obama White House advisor Valerie Jarrett. The 65-year-old comedian later&nbsp;<a href="https://www.etonline.com/roseanne-barr-leaves-twitter-apologizes-after-racially-charged-tweet-sparks-outrage-103150" target="_blank">apologized</a> to Jarrett "and to all Americans," and announced she would leave Twitter.&nbsp;</p>
