The Story: Freder Frederson and his father, Joh Frederson, reign over the great city of Metropolis. Freder is surprised to discover that his lifestyle is supported by an underground class of workers who keep the machines running. His father wants to maintain this lifestyle, so he goes to Rotwang for help. Instead, Rotwang takes the opportunity to make a robot that can achieve revenge on Joh from a past quarrel.
