Hoda Kotb has the full support of her Today show family after it was announced on Tuesday that she would be replacing Matt Lauer as Savannah Guthrie's co-anchor on the first two hours of the morning show.
Kotb will still be co-hosting the fourth hour of Today with Kathie Lee Gifford, who could not be more excited for her longtime TV partner in crime. Gifford joined Kotb, Guthrie, Carson Daly, Al Roker and Jenna Bush Hager at the Today table and gushed over her friend's new job.
"It could not happen to a sweeter, better, more beloved person," she said.
Megyn Kelly, who hosts the third hour of Today, was also eager to congratulate Kotb in person and even braved the cold weather while standing out front of 30 Rock in New York City. "You put out so much positivity out into the world, Hoda, and it comes back to you," Kelly told Kotb before asking fans to give her a "round of applause."
Meanwhile, Roker celebrated Kotb's new job with a silly selfie. "A hearty #congratulations to @hodakotb officially our new @TODAYshow #cohost with @SavannahGuthrie #SavannahHodaTODAY," the weatherman tweeted.
Daly and Bush Hager also took to Twitter to congratulate Kotb. "Congrats @hodakotb on your well deserved promotion! We love you! #SavannahHodaTODAY," Daly tweeted.
"Best way to start the year! Congrats
@hodakotb," Bush Hager wrote.
Even Chelsea Clinton was excited for the 53-year-old TV personality, tweeting: "Congratulations
News of Kotb's new job comes just over a month after Lauer was fired from the Today show after he was accused of inappropriate sexual behavior. He worked at the NBC program for over 20 years and was most recently Guthrie's co-anchor. When Guthrie announced Lauer's ousting on Nov. 28, Kotb was by her side.
Following Lauer's firing from Today, a source at NBC told ET, "It is really clear that we need to change the way we do our day-to-day work and figure out our priorities."
