Jason Kelce Earns Emmy Nomination for 'Kelce' Documentary

The Prime Video docuseries earned two Sports Emmy nominations.

Jason Kelce better make some room in his trophy case. He may soon be adding a Sports Emmy.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Tuesday announced that Jason's Prime Video docuseries, Kelce, has been nominated for two Sports Emmy Awards for Outstanding Long Documentary and Outstanding Editing -- Long Form. In the former category, Kelce is going up against Netflix's The Deepest Breath, Vimeo on Demand's Full Circle, Netflix's The Saint of Second Chances and Showtime's Stand.

In the latter category, Kelce is up against YouTube's Freeride Skiing, HBO's Hard Knocks: Training Camp with The New York Jets, Netflix's Under Pressure: The U.S. Women's World Cup Team and Golf Channel's Unredeemable.

According to Prime Video, the recently retired Philadelphia Eagles star "started documenting what he thought was his final year in the NFL. Instead, the film intimately captures the most epic year in Jason and Travis’ life, from starting a hit podcast together, Jason’s wife Kylie being pregnant with their third child, and ultimately meeting each other at the Super Bowl. All while Jason grapples with the decision of his retirement."

Kelce became an instant hit for Prime Video, as it became the streaming service's most-watched documentary film ever in the United States following its September 2023 premiere. Jason ultimately decided to retire following a marvelous career that included a Super Bowl win. He was also a six-time All-Pro honoree, seven-time pro Bowl selection, and he's undoubtedly headed for Canton, Ohio, as a future Hall of Famer.

During his emotional retirement announcement in front of his parents, wife Kylie and brother Travis, Jason opened up about the "immense heartbreak" of losing Super Bowl LVII to his brother's Kansas City Chiefs, a historic moment that saw for the first-time ever two brothers playing against each other for the Lombardi Trophy.

Neither Jason nor Travis addressed the Sports Emmy nomination when the latest episode of their popular New Heights podcast dropped on Wednesday, but it's likely because the episode was recorded before the Academy announced the nominations on Tuesday.

Either way, congrats!
