Kelly Clarkson Hilariously Begs Jesus to 'Take the Wheel' During ALS Pepper Challenge

The singer challenged fellow 'Voice' coaches Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys and Adam Levine.

Kelly Clarkson was looking for a higher power to get her through her habanero pepper.

The 35-year-old singer took to Instagram on Thursday to share a video of herself taking the ALS pepper challenge, after being called out by Trisha Yearwood.

"I wanna say, first of all, I cannot stand you, Trisha Yearwood, because I was in the clear. Garth didn't even say my name and then you just brought it up out of nowhere," Clarkson joked while holding a plate full of peppers. "I'd also like to say, for the ALS pepper challenge, this is love, because I have actually never had a habanero."

"Trisha picked the habanero because she's like, bold, and I don't want to look like a wimp, but I'm going to cry, probably. I'm just really nervous about it, so I'm just stalling," she continued, before taking a big bite out of the pepper.

What followed was a clearly stunned reaction from Clarkson, who alternated between drinking milk, asking Jesus to "take the wheel," and repeating, "I can't stand you, Trisha Yearwood!"

It wasn't until she got hold of an ice cube that the singer finally issued her challenge to fellow Voice coaches Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys and Adam Levine -- as well as her husband, Brandon Blackstock.

"Get ready @aliciakeys , @blakeshelton , and @adamlevine for the #ALSPepperChallenge! Also, @brandonblackstock I challenge you! #UrWelcomeFromYourLovingWife http://als.net/pepper," Clarkson captioned the series of videos on Instagram.

The #ALSPepperChallenge is the new "ice bucket challenge," meant to raise money and awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). According to Good Housekeeping, the challenge went viral thanks to ESPN anchor Tom Haberstroh, whose mother suffers from the disease. Those who want to take part are encouraged to post a video of themselves eating a hot pepper, then nominate friends to do the same.
