Arnold Schwarzenegger To Star In Drama 'Cry Macho'

Now that Arnold Schwarzenegger's term as California's governor is over, the action star is looking to make a return to the big screen. Instead of facing terrorists or killer robots in his next film, Schwarzenegger will take on something somewhat unexpected: character-driven drama.

Teaming up with 'Million Dollar Baby' producer Al Ruddy and 'The Lincoln Lawyer' director Brad Furman, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger will star in 'Cry Macho,' a drama that focuses on a down-on-his-luck horse trainer who is hired to kidnap a 9-year-old boy. The film is based on a 1975 novel of the same name by N. Richard Nash.

A number of stars have been rumored to be interested in the film in the past, including Burt Lancaster and Pierce Brosnan. Clint Eastwood was even talked about as a possibility to star in and direct the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger's deal calls for him to receive $12.5 million for the role, plus 25% of the film's gross box office receipts.

Along with 'Cry Macho,' Schwarzenegger is currently attached to a new 'Terminator' package that is being shopped among studios.
