Lindsay Lohan Late for Morgue Appointment

Lindsay Lohan was late for her community service appointment to visit the Los Angeles morgue Thursday morning so officials turned her away when she finally showed up.

Ed Winter, the assistant chief of the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, told reporters that Lohan had an appointment for 8 a.m. but did not show up until 8:40. He explained that it is standard procedure at the facility to cancel community service appointments when individuals do not arrive on time.

Lohan's rep, Steve Honig, said in a statement the actress arrived about 20 minutes late and he blamed the delay on confusion over which entrance to use and media assembled for her arrival. Winter -- who noted that Lohan has been at the facility before and was also given specific directions -- said the judge in her case would be notified and added that he was not sure whether Lohan would be allowed to return to the morgue for duty.

Lohan took to Twitter to give her first reaction to the events of the last two days: "With all of the stress and pressure from yesterday and today, I've never been so happy to go to therapy!!!! Also, I'm sorry for the confusion that I may of caused to those at the Coroner's office. Won't happen again, now I know where to go! Thank you for your help."

At a hearing on Wednesday, Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner said she was revoking Lohan's probation because the star had "blown off" nine community service appointments at a downtown women's shelter. The judge expressed disappointment at Lindsay's consistently poor performance, stating that "probation is a gift, not a right."

Lohan, 25, was placed in handcuffs at the conclusion of the hearing, but later posted $100,000 bail to go free. The judge set a probation violation hearing for November 2 before deciding on possible jail time. In the meantime, she encouraged the actress to show good faith by performing a minimum of 16 hours of community service per week at the morgue.
