Demi Lovato has announced her exit from Twitter and Instagram.

In the wake of her breakup from Wilmer Valderrama and a shade-throwing controversy with Mariah Carey, Demi Lovato has announced her exit from Twitter and Instagram.

"Damn I gotta quit sayin s**t. Bye Twitter," Lovato tweeted on Monday, adding, "And insta."

While the "Cool for the Summer" singer has faced some hurdles lately (she and ex-boyfriend Valderrama broke up earlier this month after "6 loving and wonderful years together," and she called Carey "unnecessarily rude" in a recent tweet that has since been deleted), it is not exactly clear why she's cutting back on her social media usage.

Judging by subsequent tweets, the move could have something to do with internet trolls who express their displeasure with her posts.

"But why do people actually give a f**k what I say? Like if you don't care gtfo haha," she wrote. "That one time I started my own charity providing mental health care for people who can't afford it and this is what y'all talk about. And people wonder what's wrong with the world. Pay more attention to good than bad."

Despite her vow to abstain from Twitter and Instagram, the singer still plans to remain active on Snapchat.
