Shakira Cancels Latin GRAMMYs and AMAs Performances Citing 'Personal Matters'

The singer is up for two awards for her 'La Bicicleta' collaboration with Carlos Vives.

Our thoughts are with you, Shakira!

The 39-year-old singer has canceled her scheduled performances for the upcoming Latin GRAMMYs and American Music Awards this month simply citing "personal matters," without elaboration, in a note to her fans.

"Due to personal matters, I won't be able to travel to Las Vegas and LA to attend the @LatinGRAMMYs or the @AMAs this year," she tweeted on Monday. "I will be accompanying @carlosvives in spirit @LatinGRAMMYs, celebrating this incredible year that we've shared together with #LaBicicleta."

Shakira has been hard at work on new music throughout 2016, teaming up with fellow Colombian artist Carlos Vives for a track titled "La Bicicleta" in May. The song is up for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the upcoming Latin GRAMMYs.

A rep for Shakira had no additional comment about the singer's current circumstances.

Also earlier this year, the mom of two lent her voice to Disney's animated hit, Zootopia, playing the adorable pop star Gazelle!

"We wanted to make Gazelle the character that I'm interpreting a little bit more similar to me," the "Hips Don't Lie" singer explained. "And so they asked me what I thought it should have and I said, 'Put some meat on the bones, you know? Poor girl, she needs some hips.'"
