'New Girl' Zooey on GG Nom: 'It Means the World'

The New Girl was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series this morning, with star Zooey Deschanel up for Best Actress, Comedy. We caught up with Zooey and her co-stars on the set of the "simply adorkable" FOX show today, where she declared, "It means the world."

"I was like a nerd growing up, I'm still a nerd," Zooey tells ET. "I never pictured in a million years that playing a nerd on TV would be recognized in this way, and that people would connect to it this much, because it was so close to home -- deeply close to home. It's just such an incredible feeling."

The New Girl airs Tuesday nights on FOX. The 2012 Golden Globes, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will air live on NBC January 15.
