James Corden Is Dusting Off His Tap Shoes to Host the 2016 Tony Awards

The 'Late Late Show' host will be heading up Broadway's biggest night.

James Corden is heading up Broadway's biggest night!

The Late Late Show personality will host the 70th Annual Tony Awards, and he's "absolutely thrilled" to have the landed the gig.

"Both times I've worked on Broadway have been amongst the happiest times of my professional life," Corden said in a statement. "I consider it a huge honor to be asked to host such an incredible night. It's gonna be fun, I can't wait to dust off my tap shoes!"

Corden is no stranger to the Tony Awards. In 2012, his role in One Man, Two Guvnors won him Best Leading Actor in a Play.

Aside from his experience on Broadway, Corden might have also landed the role thanks to his Carpool Karaoke segments on the Late Late Show. "Carpooling on Broadway will never be the same!" Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner, executive producers of the awards show, exclaimed.

The Tony Awards will air live on CBS from the Beacon Theatre in New York City on Sunday, June 12, and nominations will be announced on Tuesday, May 3.
