Cameron Diaz Shares Why She's Turned Her Back on Hollywood Beauty Standards

Diaz shared her new beauty routine during an appearance on 'RuPaul's Drag Race' star Michelle Visage's BBC podcast, 'Rule Breakers.'

Cameron Diaz is done with Hollywood's standards of beauty. In a new appearance on RuPaul's Drag Race star, Michelle Visage's BBC podcast, Rule Breakers, Diaz spoke about stepping away from Hollywood and her beauty routine -- which isn't exactly what you'd expect from the Charlie's Angels actress.

"I just go back to the trap of it all, especially in our society, like what we value, what we think is important," Diaz said before going on to admit, "I am absolutely a victim to all of the societal objectifications and exploitations that women are subjected to. I have bought into all of them myself at certain times."

"It's hard not to, it's hard not to look at yourself and judge yourself against other markers of beauty, and I think that that's one of the biggest things, the last eight years girl - I'm like wild, I'm like a wild animal, I'm a beast," she continued.

While Diaz skin certainly doesn't look it, the Shrek star said she doesn't even wash her face.

"I don't care. Literally, the last thing I think about on a daily basis…like maybe not at all during the day, is what I look like," she shared. "I literally do nothing. I, like, never wash my face."

While these days, she's big on embracing her natural beauty, Diaz said that twice a month, she uses the "billion products" she has at home.

"Twice a month if I'm lucky, I'll be like, 'Oh, I better put this on. One time works, right?' Like is that all I have to do? I'm just not in that place right now like where I put any energy (into worrying about it)," Diaz revealed.

Her focus now, as she prepares to turn 50 is to "stay strong." Diaz, who married Benji Madden back in 2015, spoke with Yahoo Finance Presents last March about how her outlook on life changed and her priorities shifted after she and her husband welcomed their daughter, Raddix, 2 in 2019.

"It's just a different time in my life now," the actress turned wine-maker explained. "Now I'm here and this is the most fulfilling thing that I've ever done in my life. [To] have a family and be married and have our little nucleus of a family. It's just completely the best thing. So I can't give...I don't have what it takes to give making a movie what it needs to be made. All of my energy is here."

Diaz -- whose last role was in the 2014 remake of Annie -- confirmed during a March 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly that she had retired. Since then, she hasn't shied away about how she's found "peace" since closing that chapter of her life.

"I just decided that I wanted different things out of my life," Diaz told Gwyneth Paltrow in August 2020. "I had gone so hard for so long, working, making films, and it's such a grind. And I didn't make any space for my personal life. And then I decided to stop making movies and really focus on my personal life, my personal relationships with my family, my friends. And then Benji and I met each other and we got married pretty much immediately because we both knew that we both had to do it."
