Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kylie Jenner and Kris Jenner turn heads everywhere they go, and the Met Gala red carpets are no exception. Take a look back at the famous family, who first made their appearance at the annual gala at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2013.
Flower Power
Now a stalwart on Met Gala red carpets, Kim made her debut at fashion's finest night in 2013, when she was heavily pregnant with her first child, daughter North. For the evening, themed "Punk: Chaos to Couture," the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star made an unforgettable appearance in a skintight floral dress designed by Riccardo Tisci that put her baby bump fully on display. Two years later, she took the meme-worthy outfit out of storage to dress up as herself for Halloween while pregnant with son Saint.
Champagne Dreams
Kendall joined her big sister in 2014, making the "Charles James: Beyond Fashion"-themed soiree her Met Gala debut. To mark the occasion, the model went Old Hollywood in a pale pink, satin corset dress by Topshop that added extra oomph with its mermaid cut. She paired the number with a blingy clutch and a Chopard diamond necklace. "Nope. Can't sit," the California native later tweeted about the ensemble.
Blue Belle
Kim perfected the smize in 2014, where she stepped out in a toned-down yet jewel-toned custom Lanvin gown that was belted at the waist and featured a thigh-high slit. On her website, she said that the dress was supposed to be leather with metallic detailing, but she and designer Alber Elbaz switched to satin at the last minute.
Green With Envy
Kendall got a little more daring in 2015, showing off more skin -- much like she does on other red carpets. The brunette beauty sparkled in a sleeveless green crystal dress by Calvin Klein dress (she was the face of the fashion brand's "Denim Series" campaign that year). The gown was semi-sheer with a high neckline and criss-crossed sides. The theme that year was "China: Through the Looking Glass"
Crystal Clear
Kim put her famous derriere on display in 2015 in a nearly-nude white Roberto Cavalli gown with a shockingly low-cut back and glamourous, long feathered train. The makeup mogul shared on Instagram that her dress was inspired by Cher's Bob Mackie look from the first Met Gala in 1974.
Red Hot
Kris joined her daughters in 2015, seeing red in a ruched Balmain dress cinched at the waist with a chunky gold belt and complemented with chandelier earrings and strappy black, gold-capped heels.
Sparkle and Shine
Then 18-year-old Kylie made her big Met Gala debut in 2016, and she made it count with a new ‘do and sultry gown to boot. For her night out in the Big Apple, where the theme was "Manus x Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology." the reality star slipped into a heavily-beaded, long-sleeved floor-length Balmain gown that also kept alive the Kardashian-Jenner tradition of the “naked” dress, with particularly-placed sheer bejeweled panels allowing for skin to peek through. Apparently it was a no pain, no gain kind of night for Kylie though, as she later posted to social media a photo of multiple cuts on her leg, writing, "When ur dress made you bleed and ur feet are purple," she wrote alongside a photo of multiple cuts on her leg."
Metallic Mama
For the tech-inspired 2016 Met Gala, Kim slayed in a disco ball-esque dress that any robot would have been jealous of. The stunning silver Balmain beauty was designed by family friend Olivier Rousteing.
Talk About Gridlock
Kendall is never shy about showing off her enviable bod, and the 2016 Met Gala was no exception. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star opted for a white-and-blue grid gown from Atelier Versace, and the mesmerizing grid design seemed like it had more cut-outs than fabric.
Back in Black
Like her daughters, Kris opted for a sparkly Balmain look in 2016, albeit hers was in a much more muted black hue.
White Hot
When she stepped out solo for the 2017 Met Gala, Kim opted for a white, off-the-shoulder slip dress by Vivienne Westwood. The theme that night was "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between," but there were no crazy silhouettes for the hot mama. Instead, she completed her simplistic look with strappy heels that showed off her fresh pedicure and nary a piece of jewelry.
Sheer Delight
Kendall continued her naked dress streak in 2017, baring nearly all in an embellished black thong and sheer couture dress by La Perla. Her red pout and Christian Louboutin heels pulled the look together perfectly.
Blondes Have More Fun
In 2017, Kylie wore a rose gold Versace dress that featured netting, long tassels on the shoulders and shiny, seashell-like embellishments. The lip kit maven kept the rest of her look simple, rocking white stilettos, light pink acrylic nails and statement rings, though her bleached blonde blunt wig nearly stole the show. "Donatella asked I go blonde and we made it happen," Stormi's mama shared on her Instagram Story as she reminisced about past Met Galas in May 2020. "I loved this look."
Gold Standard
Kim stepped out solo again in 2018, looking like a golden goddess in a stunning sparkly number by Versace. The floor-length gown featured two embellished crosses and a body-hugging fit that accentuated her slim waistline. She completed the look with a half-up, half-down 'do, dramatic eye makeup and a diamond cross, perfectly playing on the night's theme, "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination."
Heavenly Sighting
Kendall arrived to the 2018 extravaganza in a custom silk, off-the-shoulder pantsuit by Off-White that featured a long train and white tulle gloves, which she paired with Tiffany & Co. earrings and Tiffany T rings.
'90s Girl
Kylie sure made a statement in her first red carpet appearance since giving birth to daughter Stormi, which also was her first red carpet appearance with boyfriend Travis Scott. She marked the big night by wearing a black Alexander Wang gown with an exposed midriff and zipper, with peek-a-boo bonus of black tights with the designer's name on them in sparkly silver letters. The billionaire makeup guru finished her look with 5-carat platinum diamond Chopard earrings and itty bitty sunglasses. "Fun fact: this dress wasn't supposed to have a zipper but it ripped as I was squeezing into it so we added it on the way out the door," the reality star revealed on her Instagram Story in May 2020. "But it worked out and I loved it."
Momager Moment
She loves her black dresses! Kris was a fine-feathered fashionista in 2018 in her custom Tommy Hilfiger gown that was embellished with jewel-encrusted gold piping.
Purple Power
All eyes were on Kylie when she made a major statement at the 2019 Met Gala. The theme was "Camp: Notes on Fashion," and the It Girl brought it, matching a lilac wig to her form-fitting mermaid Versace gown that featured a lavender feathered train and sleeves.
Tangerine Dream
Kendall was statuesque in a slinky orange feathered, beaded dress with attached wing-like pieces. The Versace look went nicely with her little sister's equally extravagant ensemble. "Kendall's original sketches were pink and I realllyyy wanted her outfit to be pink but she wanted green or orange," Kylie shared the following year on Instagram. "The orange looked fire in the end. ?."
Wet Set
For the 2019 Met Gala, Kim shimmied down the pink carpet in a figure-hugging Thierry Mugler creation made out of silicon with silk organza and dripping with sparkly crystals, inspired by the wet shirt dress that Sophia Loren wore in the 1957 film Boy on a Dolphin. The day after the 2019 Met Gala, Vogue shared a behind-the-scenes video of the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star getting ready before fashion's biggest night, where it was noted that the most difficult piece of her look was the corset bodysuit, custom made by Mr. Pearl, that made her waist look super tiny. "I'll be walking around, mingling, talking, but I cannot hardly sit," she said in the vid. "I can only half sit."
Tulle-rific Time
Kris was practically unrecognizable as she made her way down the pink carpet at the 2019 Met Gala, wowing in a Tommy Hilfiger navy jumpsuit with dramatic oversized gray shoulders and a tulle half skirt. What really stood out, though, was the blonde bob she donned for the event. When asked who suggested she go blonde, the KarJenner matriarch told ET that Kylie chose the 'do. As for if she took one of Kylie's wigs, she said, "No, my hairdresser, Jorge Serrano, went running in his tracksuit. So we figured it out. It was last-minute craziness."
