Kendra Wilkinson Officially Files for Divorce From Hank Baskett

The two have called it quits after nearly nine years of marriage.

Kendra Wilkinson has taken the first step to dissolving her nearly nine-year marriage to Hank Baskett.

After revealing to her Instagram followers on Friday that it was her last day as Baskett's wife, the former Girls Next Door star officially filed for divorce. According to court docs obtained by ET on Friday, Wilkinson cited "irreconcilable differences" and listed the date of their separation as Jan. 1, 2018.

A source tells ET that Wilkinson is "grief stricken," but she "knows this is the best for her and Hank and their children."

"Both of them did everything they could to make this work," the source added, telling ET they are amicable. "They are absolutely still speaking. This is good-natured. They will always be there for each other."

Wilkinson and Baskett were married on June 27, 2009, at the Playboy Mansion. They share two children together, son Hank IV, 8, and daughter Alijah, 3, and up until recently, were still living together at their Los Angeles home. Per the divorce filing, she is asking that she and Baskett share joint legal and physical custody of the children and that her name be legally restored to Wilkinson. She is also asking for spousal support and the division of property to be determined at a later date.

"Hank is no longer living at the house," the source revealed. "He is staying at his own place nearby. He didn’t want to go far because he still plans on seeing Kendra and the kids often. This isn’t the end. This is a new chapter for them."

ET has reached out to Wilkinson and Baskett's reps for comment.

"I will forever love Hank and be open but for now we have chosen to go our own ways," Wilkinson, 32, captioned a pic of her and the 35-year-old former NFL star just a few hours before ET obtained the divorce documents. "I’m beyond sad and heartbroken because I did believe in forever, that’s why I said yes but unfortunately too much fear has gotten in the way. We are both amazing parents and our kids will be happy n never know the difference other than seeing mama smile."

"Sometimes love looks funny," she added. "We are told to make sacrifices in life if it’s true love well in this case it’s me. I want to see happy Hank again... i miss that. Marriage was just a piece of paper and a piece of jewelry but our hearts will always be real."

The post came four days after the model posted a cryptic message to Twitter. "Today will be the saddest, scariest day of my life," she shared. "Today I will have to be the strongest I've ever been. Today, my rebirth begins."

Over the past few weeks leading up to the divorce, Wilkinson also shared a series of emotional pics and videos on her Instagram Story, where she is seen crying as she talks about her estranged husband.

"I did everything I could. It wasn't good enough," she said in one of the videos, sobbing. "I will always love him and my heart will always remain open for him."

Wilkinson continued, "I believed in forever. I really did. I guess it's just not meant to be. I'm so scared but I have to get strong for my kids. I will."

She then posted a photo from her and Baskett's wedding, writing: "I believed."

Multiple sources told ET that the couple was heading for a divorce, but noted that the decision wasn't easy for Wilkinson.

"She feels broken and has come to terms with the fact that her relationship with Hank isn’t healthy anymore," said one source. "She's always been mommy-oriented and remains focused on her kids and what's best for them."
