Kidnap Victim Jaycee Dugard's New Look

A young-looking Jaycee Dugard debuts her latest look on the cover of People magazine. But despite her fresh face and happy smile, the 31-year-old kidnapping victim is recounting vivid memories of her horrific 18 years in captivity.

Exclusive excerpts from Jaycee's memoir A Stolen Life appear in the latest issue of People, on newsstands this Friday. In 2009, People published on its cover the first verified photo of Jaycee as an adult.

In the book, Jaycee provides intimate details of her kidnapping by Phillip Garrido in June 1991, her nearly two decades of captivity, the revelation of repeated sexual abuse that resulted in two pregnancies and the emotional reunion with her family.

Jonathan Karp, head of the book's publisher Simon & Schuster, has said of the memoir: "When I read the pages, I was moved and inspired by the raw power of Jaycee Dugard's voice, her strength and her resilience."
