DGA Announces 2012 Nominees

The Directors Guild of America just revealed the five 2012 honorees who will compete for Best Director at their annual ceremony, held on January 28, 2012.

Woody Allen (Midnight in Paris), David Fincher (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist), Alexander Payne (The Descendants) and Martin Scorsese (Hugo) all received nominations.

The guild has an excellent track record for not only foreshadowing who The Academy Awards will nominate (in the Guild's 63 years, the DGA winner went on to take home the Best Director Oscar 56 times), but which film will also go on to win Best Picture.

The film directed by the DGA recipient went on to take home Oscar's top prize 50 times in 63 years.
