LP Unleashes Debut Album, Performs 'Night Like This'

LP talks about her new album Forever For Now and the nearly two years it took to complete it.

After years penning hits for Top 40 acts such as Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson and Cher, Los Angeles based singer songwriter LP is unleashing her booming voice and Bob Dylan swagger with the release of her debut album, Forever For Now. ETonline caught up with LP to talk about the new record and the nearly two years it took to complete it.

We first caught up with LP in 2012 after the release of her live EP Into The Wild. The EP received strong critical praise and earned the artist some well deserved exposure due in part to a memorable Citibank TV commercial featuring the title track.

Back then she told us that the album was about 85% complete. So why the long wait since then?

"That's what happens you know you go there and you decide, 'Oh no, I need these other things in there,'" she explains. "I just wrote a bunch more songs."

The end result is a triumphant debut from one of music's rising stars. Forever For Now not only showcases LP's vocal power and prowess but her knack for story telling. And as she explains, her approach is a bit different than when she's writing for someone else.

"It's a little bit of a deeper approach when writing for myself. I got a little bit more universal when I go with somebody else's song," she says.

From her songwriting and voice to her ukulele, which she admits has become a security blanket over the years, LP has a unique style of her own and is shaping up to be a formidable force to be reckoned with.
