Prince William Tells Princess Charlotte's Favorite Joke on First Solo Trip Since Kate Middleton's Cancer News

Prince William seemed in good spirits while making an official out-of-town appearance.

Prince William is on the road. The 41-year-old Prince of Wales went to the West Midlands near Birmingham, England, on Thursday, marking his first solo trip since his wife, Kate Middleton's, cancer news

William seemed in good spirits, visiting with several boys from the St. Michael's Church of England High School to discuss mental health.

The next in line to the British royal throne was tasked with telling a "dad joke," but he opted instead to share his daughter, Princess Charlotte's, favorite wisecrack.

"I was kind of trying to channel Jack Whitehall because most of his jokes are pretty dad-like," William said of the British comedian, who recently became a first-time father.

He went on to share Charlotte's favorite knock-knock joke with "interrupting cow." Before the students had a chance to ask, "Interrupting cow who?" William jumped in with a loud, "Moo!"

In addition to getting a laugh from the students, William also got a shoutout from Whitehall himself, who retweeted the video from royal reporters, writing, "Rinsed by the future King. ❤️"

He also shared a funny video reaction on Instagram, writing, "An outrageous shading from the future King. #DadJokes #theregoesmyknighthood."

The father of three has spoken about his children several times during official events. While visiting the Woodgate Valley Urban Farm, William petted Snowflake the guinea pig, revealing that he is often left to clean out the cage of his own kids' guinea pig after they forget to do it.

William and Kate share Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, who recently celebrated his sixth birthday. The royals marked the special occasion by sharing a new portrait of Louis taken by Kate.

After Kate's public announcement that she was seeking treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, William took a break from his royal duties, returning earlier this month for his first event in Surrey.

Prior to Kate discussing her health battle public, a source told ET that she "sugarcoated" the news when telling young Louis, noting that George and Charlotte likely got a more grownup version of the situation.

William's father, King Charles III, also revealed earlier this year that he too is battling cancer.
