The rumored couple was recently spotted at an Oscars party in Beverly Hills, California.
Sabrina Carpenter is opening up about how she approaches dating amid her rumored romance with Barry Keoghan.
The 24-year-old singer appears on the new Cosmopolitan digital cover and talks about a host of subjects, most notably, dating and relationships.
"A lot of it, for me, has been fate. I know that's super broad, but I don’t actively look for it," she says. "The relationships that I actually want to put my energy into have to be so interesting or invigorating because they take me away from the other things I love. So yeah, it's fun and it's messy. I think I’m still just at this place where I'm really enjoying the newness of all of it."

It's true. Carpenter and the 31-year-old actor were spotted earlier this month together at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party in Beverly Hills, California. While the duo didn't pose together on the red carpet, they took a cheekily posed photo while partying inside. Carpenter and Keoghan first sparked dating rumors at the end of last year when they were seen together in a parking lot. Since then, they have been spotted together at L.A. hot spots Nobu and Luna Luna. He also sported a "Sabrina" friendship bracelet at a couple of Hollywood parties while Carpenter was busy serving as the opening act on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Singapore.
Elsewhere in the interview with Cosmopolitan, Carpenter says her view on relationships has evolved over time.
"My best friend just got married and she's my age... It just made me feel like I was so behind or something. And then I realized, no, no, no, she's just ahead," Carpenter says. "When I was younger, the one thing I always thought was, why would I date this person if I didn't see myself marrying them? I just wouldn't even put energy into it. But now I have a mentality that there are relationships that are meant to be in your life, even if it's only for a couple of weeks."
Carpenter also gives her two cents when it comes to social media speculation regarding relationships.
"I wish more people knew that there's nuance, as opposed to taking everything on the internet as fact. They know in their own lives that they might be texting someone but not in a relationship," she says. "But for some reason, it's very black and white when it comes to the internet and the way that people on the internet are portrayed. I have to laugh at it though, because sometimes I read some funny sh*t, but it almost feels like I'm reading about someone else."
And by the way, Carpenter says she doesn't have "a type."
"Contrary to popular opinion, I don't think I have a type. But the internet loves to just put pictures next to each other of men who have the same hair color," she muses. "I'm super attracted to a lot of the things I look for in friends, because I want to be with someone who's going to be one of my best friends. So a lot of it is energy and humor and being genuine. I will say I've always connected more with people who are really in touch with their emotions. I mean, none of those relationships have worked out so far. Sometimes I think I'd be better off with a mime."
Carpenter also shares that she feels "genuinely lucky" to perform on the Eras Tour for two reasons.
"I feel so genuinely lucky on the Eras Tour because I get to perform a set that I'm super comfortable with, and then I get to watch one of the greatest performers every night," says Carpenter in reference to the Midnights singer. "It almost feels like a Broadway show because everything is so synchronized but at the same time feels so in the moment. That's an art. It's really hard to teach. It's really hard to learn. And I feel so lucky that I get to watch Taylor perform every time. It makes me want to tour the world again, which is a good feeling."
