In the minute-long clip, we see Lucious (Terrence Howard) fighting for his position as CEO of Empire Entertainment from behind bars. The problem? His son Andre (Trai Byers) is trying to remove Lucious from his post, and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is behind him, which leaves Lucious with no choice but to have Jamal (Jussie Smollett) wage war on his behalf.
The power struggle trickles down to the baby, Hakeem (Bryshere Gray), who continues to butt heads with Jamal.

The first look also features notable guest stars Marisa Tomei venture capitalist Mimi Whiteman, who appears to act on Lucious' behalf, and Chris Rock as an inmate locked up with Lucious.
"Lucious Lyon is Empire," Mimi says in the clip. "Without him the company is nothing."
According to Deadline, Mimi is labeled as a lover of "hip hop music, social trends, high-end fashion, and beautiful women." Based on the trailer, we have a feeling that Mimi and Cookie will either be vicious foes -- and we can't wait to find out when Empire returns to Fox on Sept. 23!
