'The Defenders' Trailer Packs a Punch as Marvel's Street-Level Heroes Face Off Against Sigourney Weaver

Netflix

Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist meet up and band together to fight the 'War for New York' in Netflix's first full 'Defenders' trailer.

The War for New York is coming, and the ragtag group of super-powered vigilantes known as the Defenders are the only ones who can save the city.

In the epic first trailer for Netflix's long-awaited team-up of Marvel's so-called street-level heroes, we get a look at how Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones) all come together to stop some mysterious evil force.

Like all good superhero team-ups, the four lone wolf renegades initially have some trouble working together and trusting one another, but if the short glimpse at their inevitably awesome hallway fight is any indication, their powers and personalities might complement each other perfectly.

From this action-packed first look, it's clear that the hotly anticipated team-up has all the gritty action, dry humor and tense pacing the four individual series are celebrated for.

Also, it sounds like Iron Fist gets about as much respect from his teammates as he got from the majority of TV critics -- which is to say, not a lot. It's evident in their nicknames, as spoken in the gravely tones of Daredevil's mentor, Stick (Scott Glenn): "The devil of Hell's Kitchen, the smart ass detective, the righteous ex-con and the kid with the glowing fist."

The promo also gives us a look at a seemingly-vampiric Elektra (Elodie Yung) who has been resurrected after her death in season two of Daredevil, and the enigmatic -- but clearly villainous -- Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver).
