As the news started to make its rounds, fans on Twitter couldn't keep their cool over their newfound love for Kenzari, with many joking that they wouldn't be mad if Jasmine chooses him over Aladdin in the remake.

"Pretty sure I'm going to spend the entirety of the live action Aladdin on Jafar's side," one fan wrote.

"Guess who is rooting for Jafar now," another tweeted.

Kenzari joins previously confirmed cast members Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine. The Hollywood Reporter also reports that former Saturday Night Live comedian Nasim Pedrad has been cast as Mara, the handmaiden and friend to Princess Jasmine. It's a new role that was created specifically for the remake.

Last month, Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and when asked how she felt about the Genie casting, she couldn't help herself from gushing over the "perfect" fit.

Recalling a conversation she had with her husband when he first found out he would be a part of the project, she said, "And you know what I had to tell him? I said, 'You know, this is perfect for you because you're always creating magic.'"
