Sydney Sweeney Addresses Glen Powell Romance Rumors Again: 'I Care for Him'

Sweeney and Powell have both previously spoken out about speculation they were involved romantically while filming 'Anyone But You.'

Sydney Sweeney is once again setting the record straight on her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell

In a new interview with Glamour, the 26-year-old Euphoria actress cleared up rumors about her relationship with Powell, 35, saying that tabloid headlines about an alleged affair between them took a toll on her on-screen partner.

"It was really hard on Glen, which made me sad… because [otherwise] it was such a beautiful experience for the both of us. I care for him so much," she tells the outlet.

Sweeney and Powell stirred up buzz as they were photographed looking deeply in love while filming Anyone But You in Australia earlier this year. She guessed that part of the speculation into their relationship also came from having a very private love story with her fiance, Jonathan Davino.

"Also, I’ve never really shared that much [about my relationship], so the press loves to create drama in stories," Sweeney continues.

At the time that rumors about a potential romance began swirling, both actors were in committed relationships. Powell and ex-girlfriend Gigi Paris ultimately split in the spring after three years of dating.

Sweeney previously told Variety she "felt beat up by" the rumors, especially when she wasn't able to stand up for herself. Similarly, Powell told Men's Health that the rumors were "disorienting and unfair."

The romance rumors were also fueled by their endlessly gushy sentiments about each other while promoting their new rom-com. Both Sweeney and Powell have talked about how easy it was to pretend to be in love with each other while on set of their new movie.

"A great rom-com doesn't survive without great chemistry, and Sydney is the easiest person to have chemistry with," Powell exclusively told ET during a set visit. "I mean, immediately, it was like we'd known each other forever, and I think anybody that's been on the set realizes I never get tired of talking to Sydney. We make each other laugh. She's awesome, obviously one of the most talented actresses we have. This movie has felt like a rom-com in itself because Sydney is very easy to pretend fall in love with."

Anyone But You, in theaters Dec. 22, is described as a modernized adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, and follows two former rivals (played by Sweeney and Powell) who hate each other but have to pretend to be a couple, until an eventual romance sparks between them.
