Jason Kelce Recalls the Drunken Night He Met Wife Kylie and Fell Asleep at the Bar

The Philadelphia Eagles tight end is joined by former teammates Beau Allen and Chris Long on an episode of 'New Heights.'

Jason Kelce knows how to leave a lasting impression. The Philadelphia Eagles star is reflecting on the night he met his wife, Kylie Kelce, and how things didn't quite go as expected.

On Wednesday's pre-taped episode of his New Heights podcast -- which was recorded ahead of Super Bowl LVIII while his co-host and brother, Travis Kelce, was busy preparing for the game -- Jason welcomed his former teammates, Beau Allen and Chris Long, for a chat about their colorful history together. Among the hot topics was a retelling of the time Beau carried Jason out of a bar in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after the latter over imbibed on his first date with Kylie.

"Kylie's first impression of me was you carrying me out of the bar," Jason begins the story.

"That was physically one of the hardest things I've ever done," Beau replies. "That was harder than climbing Mount Kilimanjaro."

Jason and Kylie began their relationship after matching on Tinder, and decided to meet in person after getting to know each other over chat. Beau says that Jason's upcoming date was the talk of the team as Jason sought advice on what to say to her. Eventually, he and Kylie made a plan to meet face to face at a bar after the Eagles' formal holiday party.

"We pre-gamed it, of course," Beau shares, adding that all the guys were "excited to meet her" before "the night just went a little bit sideways."

"It did, yeah," Jason admits.

"Kelce fell asleep at the bar, like, snoozing," Beau continues.

"It's actually not that uncommon," Jason admits. "I think my brain just eventually got to the point that it prevented me from drinking alcohol by just shutting down."

Beau says that he dropped Jason "hard" at one point as he struggled to carry his teammate across cobblestone streets on the way home.

"I don't know why, I know I was sleeping, but I remember it," Jason says. "I remember fighting you and laughing my ass off."

Later, Jason asks whether Beau was "shocked when Kylie agreed to go on a second date."

"I was slightly surprised," Beau responds, prompting a huge laugh from Jason.

"You're a great guy, man! You're charming. Look at that laugh!" he continues. "How could you not want to go on a second date?"

Jason and Kylie married in 2018 and today share three daughters: Wyatt, 4; Elliotte, turning 3 next month; and Bennett, turning 1 on Friday.

This isn't the first time Jason and Kylie's origin story has been rehashed. Beau previously offered a similar account in the Amazon Prime documentary, Kelce, while Jason hilariously referenced it on New Heights last month.

While discussing Travis' Kansas City Chiefs matchup against the Buffalo Bills at length -- including when Jason famously ripped off his shirt and chugged a beer inside Highmark Stadium -- Jason revealed that he offered a courtesy heads-up to Kylie about his plan to strip down in the cold. He said that she urged him not to, since it would be the couple's first time meeting Travis' new girlfriend, Taylor Swift

"She was already telling me to be on my best behavior because we were meeting Taylor," Jason said. "She was like, 'Do not. Be on your best behavior.' I was like, 'Kylie, when I met you, the first day I met you, I was black-out drunk and fell asleep at the bar.' This is part of the charm. This is part of the Jason Kelce charm. I want to make my best first impression... This is my best chance."

The admission sent Travis into a fit of hysterics, responding, "That s**t was classic."

As it turned out, Jason's plan worked once again.

"Ah, man, well," Travis continued. "Tay says she absolutely loved you."

This week's New Heights episode was completed prior to the tragic shooting that took place immediately following the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City, Missouri, last week. The brothers hopped behind the mics on Monday to offer heartfelt remarks to their listeners.

"We have a pre-recorded episode for you guys, coming up on Wednesday, but after the tragic events of the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City, it didn't feel right without you guys hearing from us first," Travis shared in the video.

"We just wanted to say our hearts go out to all of the victims, their families, the Chiefs Kingdom, and really all of Kansas City that was really there on a day to try and celebrate the community," Jason said. "It's unfortunate and deeply tragic, the events that occurred."

Jason had a message of gratitude for those who helped in the aftermath, sharing, "We also wanted to thank the local law enforcement that sprang into action, the first responders on scene, and anybody that's been willing to help those affected by this tragedy."

Jason and Travis encouraged their fans to donate to charitable causes working to help those impacted by the shooting, including the United Way.

"We're still figuring out a way for us to be involved, and obviously you can donate to these links right now, but we're planning on doing something in the future," Jason said. "We're trying to get that situated right now."

A source told ET on Friday that Travis is "actively" figuring out his next steps in helping to give back to the victims and city.

"Travis is trying to process everything that has happened, as is everyone in the Chiefs community," the source explained. "He is actively trying to find out specifically what the victims' needs are, and where he can help the most. He wants to ensure that the impacted families get what they need during this difficult time."
