Comic-Con 2018, Day 3: 'Riverdale' Scoop, 'Aquaman' Trailer & a Surprise Johnny Depp Appearance

Harry Potter fans will soon get to see a different side of the wise and beloved Albus Dumbledore that they first met.

Jude Law, along with castmates Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, Zoe Kravitz and Claudia Kim, sat down with ET's Kevin Frazier on Saturday to dish on their characters in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Law joins the cast as "young Dumbledore," or, as his castmates like to call him, "hot and sexy Dumbledore" and "delicious Dumbledore." The 45-year-old actor, however, described the younger version of the Hogwarts headmaster as "mischievous" and "manipulative."

"He's a little younger than he was in the Harry Potter series. He's still mischievous, and he can be manipulative," Law said of his character. "He has a great friendship with Newt. Newt was a student of his, a student that he championed."

"There's a little bit of a past there, which I think is already known," he said, turning to Redmayne for confirmation. "Right? That Newt was asked to leave Hogwarts and Dumbledore tried to stand up for him. Newt has this capacity to always act in the right way for the right reasons, and it's something that Dumbledore relies on in this situation, because Dumbledore cannot get involved in the confrontation that is at the heart of this film. So Newt is sort of his conduit."

"I have an entertaining question."

So claimed one Comic-Con attendee during the audience Q&A portion of Hall H's Deadpool 2 panel on Saturday, which brought together Ryan Reynolds, Zazie Beetz, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic and the filmmakers to promote the Super Duper $@%!#& Cut. It was a disclaimer bound to fill any reasonable person with trepidation, but the question certainly was entertaining: "What do you hate more, Green Lantern or X-Men: Origins?"

For a moment, Reynolds was speechless. Then he considered, "Both have kind of been a wealth of endless jokes for Deadpool. ... So I kind of love them both." After earnestly explaining he had a "ball" shooting both of the superhero flops, Reynolds did admit, "But, no, they're both pretty bad."

(As for whether Deadpool and Green Lantern would ever team up -- an actual question that was asked, though, admittedly, by a young child -- Reynolds replied, "That sounds like fun. That sounds really expensive. The Deadpool suit is super cheap compared to a totally CGI onesie.")

The second group from the Riverdale cast -- Casey Cott, Madelaine Petsch, Skeet Ulrich, Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, and Vanessa Morgan -- sat down with ET's Leanne Aguilera to dish on whether or not Bughead will find "happiness" in season three. 

Sprouse, for his part, would like there to be "consistency" and "happiness" in Bughead's relationship.

"Actually, it's looking like it's going to be pretty good for Bughead this season so far," he revealed. "[It's] pretty constant, pretty nice."

"We're two episodes in, so we don’t know how things are going to pan out," chimed in Reinhart.

"They haven't broken up yet," her on-screen beau added.

But fans will get to see the dynamic duo back to their old ways, working together to solve mysteries.

"Betty and Jughead are back to being the investigative sleuths they were in season one," shared Reinhart. "They're back to their old selves again, which is kind of fun to see."

The Flash's brand-new season five trailer, which debuted during the show's Comic-Con panel on Saturday, picks up immediately after the season four finale cliffhanger with the introduction of Nora Allen, Barry and Iris's future daughter who has used her speedster powers to travel back in time. 

Now Team Flash is trying to process what to do with Nora — also known as XS, the nickname Barry gave his daughter when she was a kid — and her ominous warning that she's made a "big, big mistake."

"Nora shouldn't be here," a very worried Barry explains to Iris. "She could Marty McFly herself right out of existence. She needs to be with her parents 30 years from now. Not us now."

The sneak peek video also gifted fans with the highly anticipated introduction of Barry Allen's iconic Flash costume ring (It’s a "fan favorite" according to Nora!), as well a cryptic tease of The Flash's next big bad.

It was then announced on the panel that actor Chris Klein will take on the role of season five’s ultra-dark villain Cicada, a cult leader obsessed with the Flash.

"We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Chris on The Flash this season as Cicada," executive producer and showrunner Todd Helbing told ET exclusively ahead of the panel. "We can’t wait to show our audience him in full form, and how this year’s big bad will be unlike any that’s come before him.”

ET's Leanne Aguilera sat down with the first group of Riverdale cast members -- KJ Apa, Mark Consuelos, Marisol Nichols, Luke Perry and Ashleigh Murray -- on Saturday afternoon to dish on all things season 3.

"We start off, Archie is on trial for the murder of Cassidy Bullock," Apa revealed of his character. "He's innocent, but you never know what can happen in Riverdale. That's the great thing about our show. So we'll see what happens."

Veronica Lodge, played by Camila Mendes, will be visiting Archie while he's in jail. "He doesn't want her to, but she's a good girlfriend," Apa said. "So she'll probably be coming to visit, but I think the distance is going to shake things up a little between the two of them."

As for the dynamic between Hermoine Lodge (Nichols) and her husband Hiram (Consuelos), Nichols shared, "I think with Hermoine, she can't show all her cards. Even though she does have some power for herself, she's going to have to navigate it carefully."

Fans will also be seeing more of Molly Ringwald's Mary Andrews. "We always like seeing Molly come back, especially because she's a lawyer, and we need one," Luke Perry noted.

And there could possibly be another musical episode in the works. "I think they're going to find a way to do it again," said Ashleigh Murray, who plays musician and singer Josie McCoy on the show.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is one of the zaniest superhero shows on TV, but it was a giant talking stuffed animal that truly was the highlight of the panel. Beebo, who had an epic showdown with villain Mallus in the season three finale, made a surprise appearance when the conversation turned to the fluffy crime-fighting hero.

The Ballroom 20 crowd was ecstatic that Beebo joined the party and stars Matt Ryan, Brandon Routh and Jes Macallan couldn’t help but give Beebo a big hug. Watch the moment below. (And yes, Beebo will be back in season four!)

The Arrow cast took the stage in Ballroom 20 on Saturday, where they teased the fallout from Oliver Queen publicly outing himself as the Green Arrow in the season six finale. In the first look trailer for the upcoming seventh season, we see Oliver in prison (don’t worry, he still has his six-pack abs) with the running theme of redemption.

"Maybe what [Oliver] did in the finale was stupid,” Stephen Amell said, hinting that he does something "reprehensible" in the premiere episode and there is “nothing heroic” about him this season. The cast also played “Two Truths and a Lie,” and he offered this (fake?) tease: "Oliver eats some mac and cheese ... and he puts ketchup on it." A fan later asked if there will be any babies in Olicity’s future in season seven. Emily Bett Rickards paused for a second before she quipped: “I passed out at ‘wife’ for a minute.” But new showrunner Beth Schwartz gave the definitive answer on that front: “No.”

The new season also sees the return of Colton Haynes’ Roy Harper, but it appears he’ll be playing a slightly different version of the character we grew to love. “He’s not the same person. It’s going to be very, very interesting,” Haynes said. “Beth’s a genius so she wrote me a version of the character that was just so special. It’s going to be hard for me to do but I’m super happy to do it. And I’m so excited for me to be back.”

A new iteration of Roswell is coming! Though The CW’s midseason drama, Roswell, New Mexico, based on the Roswell High novels by Melinda Metz, did not have an official Comic-Con panel, a two-minute teaser dropped on Saturday afternoon. Starring Jeanine Mason, Nathan Parsons and Tyler Blackburn, watch the first look of the upcoming series above.

The first transgender superhero on TV is coming to National City.

Supergirl will introduce Nia Nal, aka Dreamer, in the upcoming fourth season of The CW's superhero drama, it was announced Saturday during the show's Comic-Con panel. Transgender activist and actress Nicole Maines (Royal Pains, The Trans List) will play the series regular role. 

Maines made a surprise appearance during the Supergirl panel, where the cast gave her a standing ovation. 

“It feels crazy to be honest,” Maines said of her casting process. “I’ve just been doing a lot of auditions lately, because a lot of different shows have been really eager to tell the stories of transgender people, especially transgender youth, because it’s an important issue right now in our society and in our world. It seems only fitting to have a trans superhero for kids to look up to.”

As for how Nia finds her way to National City, Maines teased that she worked for Cat Grant in Washington, D.C., and relocates to be under Kara’s wing at CatCo and taught the ways of “superhero-ing.” “She’s so wide-eyed. She’s just happy to be included,” Maines said. “She has this ferocious drive to protect people and to fight against discrimination and hatred and she’s the superhero we need right now.”

The Walking Dead has a plan for Andrew Lincoln's upcoming departure. We just don't know what it is yet. 

ET's Leanne Aguilera sat down with Lincoln's TWD co-stars, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira and Jeffrey Dean Morgan on Saturday, where the cast opened up about how the show plans to move forward without its star -- and Reedus isn't exactly thrilled about it. 

"I mean, he's my BFF forever. I'm bummed," he confessed, as Morgan jokingly let out a little jealousy. 

"I'm sitting right here, bro!" he said. 

In all seriousness, Reedus, who had been starring alongside Lincoln since 2010 -- and is rumored to be taking over as the show's lead -- said his buddy is irreplaceable. "He's been the leader of this show, and he's definitely the quarterback of this team, always will be," Reedus shared. "His shoes cannot be replaced, and they never will be." 

The cast remained tight-lipped about what a Lincoln-less Walking Dead looks like, but according to Gurira, fans will see the aftermath of Negan (Morgan) and the Saviors' defeat in season nine. 

"[It's] the idea of trying to evolve past the eye for an eye type of thing. [Rick] was trying to honor his son [Carl, by saving Negan]," she said. "How do we move forward? That is the question."

Supergirl kicked off The CW's DC Comics-powered afternoon superhero block in Ballroom 20 on Saturday, and shared a sneak peek at what's to come in season four -- and their mission to bring the show back down to Earth.

“Last year we were in outer space… this year we wanted to make the show more grounded,” executive producer Robert Rovner teased, saying that the show will explore “issues going on in the country... We wanted to use the show to talk about what’s going on in the world.”

The producers also teased that season four will focus on Kara Danver’s return to journalism, meaning she’ll be back at CatCo on a more permanent basis. With Iris West over on The Flash also back to her journalism roots in Central City, is there a possibility for a shared byline? Melissa Benoist, who flew in from New York City where she’s starring in the Carole King musical, Beautiful, on Broadway, was all for the idea: “I would love that!”

Listen up, meow! The stars of Super Troopers 2 -- Kevin Heffernan, Paul Soter, Jay Chandrasekhar, Steve Lemme, and Erik Stolhanske -- stopped by to chat about their sequel to the cult classic 2001 cop comedy, including the beloved lines that fans quote to them most often.

"Who wants a mustache ride," Chandrasekhar deadpanned.

"People for me always want to chug maple syrup," Stolhanske noted. "They come at me with bottles of maple syrup."

And for Lemme? "I get 'You boys like Mexico?' a lot, shouted at me from passing cars."

The massive Legends of Tomorrow squad -- including stars Brandon Routh, Jes Macallan, Caity Lotz, Tala Ashe, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Courtney Ford, Dominic Purcell and Matt Ryan, as well as producers Phil Klemmer and Keto Shimizu -- joined ET's Leanne Aguilera on Saturday to dish on the show's upcoming fourth season, where the Legends will be tasked with time-hopping to "bag and tag" a newly-released collective of supernatural creatures.

"These monsters -- creatures from myth, legend, fairy tale -- they've all been spat out across the timeline and it becomes this lovable group's job to clean up their mess and bag these magical fugitives," Shimizu explained. "It's gonna take us to a lot of fun time periods, and we're gonna face creatures that are familiar in a way, but of course have a fun Legends spin on it.

But will the Legends follow in their fellow DC shows' footsteps with a musical episode in the future? Ford and Ashe are on board, and Zano said he's "game," but it won't happen if Purcell has anything to say about it.

"Hell no, no way," the actor said with a laugh.

The stars of The Magicians -- Stella Maeve and Jason Ralph -- sat down with Leanne Aguilera at ET's Comic-Con suite on Saturday, to dish on the upcoming fourth season of their mystical Syfy series, which is sure to be interesting, considering the season three finale showed the show's main characters having their memories erased.

"These are brand new characters, it's a brand new show," Ralph said of the season four premiere. "I spend a lot of [the new season] covered in blood."

"And I don't see him until maybe episode three?" Maeve teased. 

The show is full of musical moments, and even featured a full-on musical episode last season. So is more music to come in season four? "They keep threatening that," Ralph joked. 

"We're only on episode four," Maeve added. "So, there's time."

The stars of The Darkest Minds -- Amandla Stenberg, Skylan Brooks, Miya Cech and Harris Dickinson -- sat down with ET's Ash Crossan on Saturday to dish on making Alexandra Bracken's beloved book series -- which takes place in "a world where most children have been killed by this mysterious disease, and those that are left have developed spooky powers: mind control, telekinesis, advanced intelligence, electricity and fire," as Stenberg puts it -- into a movie.

Or maybe a series of movies? The cast said they're hopeful about the potential to continue exploring the Darkest Minds series, after the sixth book is released at the end of this month. "There's so much potential inside of the universe of the film as well, when it expands. It's amazing, so it would be nice [to continue]."

The 100 stars Bob Morley and Eliza Taylor sat down with Leanne Aguilera in ET's Comic-Con suite on Saturday to dish all about the show's "turbulent" ongoing fifth season and what's to come for Bellarke.

"There's a really emotional ending this season," Morley teased. "I think we're both really excited for people to see... it's one of our favorite scenes."

"It's pretty great," Taylor agreed. "We're proud of it."

However, it sounds like the last few episodes of the season will be putting fans through the ringer. When asked for one word to describe the upcoming season five finale, both Morley and Taylor agreed: "Emotional."

The cast of Mayans MC -- J.D. Pardo, Elgin James, Sarah Bolger, Norberto Barba, and Clayton Cardenas -- joined ET's Leanne Aguilera on Saturday to dish on creating the "same universe, different world" of the Sons of Anarchy spinoff.

"As a Sons of Anarchy fan myself, I will tell you, I've read the scripts, and just as a fan, i'm continually in awe of these scripts," Bolger said of the new show, which follows the Southern California chapter of the Mayans Motorcycle Club, the rivals-turned-allies of Sons' SAMCRO club. "I'm in awe of these people, these powerful, wonderful, diverse people. It's been an honor to play."

So, will there be any Anarchy characters crossing over into the world of the Mayans?

"Maybe," Cardenas and Pardo teased. "It is the same world."

Has Jason Momoa got a whale of a tale for you!

All of Atlantis -- Aquaman himself (Momoa), Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Matten and Nicole freakin' Kidman, along with director James Wan -- dropped into Comic-Con's Hall H on Saturday, creating a splash with the debut of the first trailer for Warner Bros. and DC's upcoming under-the-sea adventure, Aquaman.

"My opening shot in the film is washing up on a rock," Kidman told the crowd. (This is her very first Comic-Con, by the way.) "I got to lay there with massive waves crashing over me, and I'm, like, 'The bigger, the better. C'mon, James! Give it to me!' That's why I'm doing this movie."

The preview is packed with sea dragons and armored sharks and Kidman in a mermaid crown, i.e., everything we want from an Aquaman movie.

Zachary Levi showed up to Hall H how you'd imagine his superhero alter-ego, Shazam, might: with a beer. "Jason Momoa gave me this Guinness," he informed the audience. "I'm having a great day!"

And why wouldn't he be? Levi is the newest hero to enter the DC extended universe and was here at Comic-Con -- with his young co-stars, Asher Angel and Jack Dylan Grazer, and director David F. Sandberg -- to debut the first trailer for the movie. Meet Billy Batson, an orphan who gets bounces around foster homes and gets picked on by bullies...until he meets a wizard and inherits the ability to transform into the very adult superhero, Shazam. It's goofy -- and seems to know it -- and action-packed and definitely a change from the dark and gritty DC you know.

Now, the big question: How would Shazam fare against Superman? "Per canon, Captain Marvel, Shazam, is one of the only characters that could go toe-to-toe with Supes," Levi boasted.

Wonder Woman is back, and headed for the '80s!

Stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, along with director Patty Jenkins, took the stage during Warner Bros.' Hall H panel on Saturday to dish everything they could on the upcoming follow-up to 2017's massively successful origin story.

Unlike most sequels, Wonder Woman 1984 will feature a time-jump of several decades, catching up with Diana Prince in a world that is drastically different from the World War I setting of the first film. First-look photos have shown both Gadot and Pine's character in the more-modern setting -- a little strange, considering fans definitely saw Pine's plane blow up at the end of the first Wonder Woman film. 

"I'm just an aura of emotional support for my pals," Pine told the crowd when asked about his participation in Saturday's panel. But he stayed mum on the how and why of Steve Trevor turning up in 1984. "No, I can't tell you that."

"It's something I'm super excited [for people] to see the movie to find out," Jenkins teased. "It’s a very important part of our movie."

The group also screened some exclusive WW84 footage for the panel -- a feat Jenkins called "crazy" as the sequel is only a few weeks into production. "We really shouldn't even be showing anything."

In the clip, fans got a glimpse of Wonder Woman flying through the air and landing at a mall, very clearly in the '80s, judging by the fashions and mall decor.  

"Oh my gosh," says a young girl, spotting her hero.

"Hold tight," Wonder Woman replies, as she slides the little girl across the floor into a giant, stuffed teddy. Then, lots of action as the titular hero dismantles baddies, crunching their guns with just her hands, and lassoing them with her golden lasso of truth.

Then the "WW84" logo appears, followed by a shot of Wonder Woman running – very fast -- through the streets. That's all for now! No sign of Kristen Wiig's Cheetah...yet.

Millie Bobby Brown has more to fear than the Demogorgon. The Stranger Things star was in Hall H alongside Vera Farmiga, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Thomas Middleditch and director Michael Dougherty to debut the trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. (And to extensively discuss Godzilla "doodie," mostly courtesy of Middleditch.)

"We had neck problems after because we were always looking up so high," Brown said of the difference between starring opposite Godzilla and the Demogorgon. The footage also reveals three new, massive monsters: Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah, as they are unleashed upon the world.

Farmiga explained that she plays a Monarch scientist in the movie, studying to see if humans and monsters can "peacefully co-exist." From the footage screened -- Godzilla breathing fire, Mothra spreading her wings -- it seems like the answer is a resounding no.

The Fantastic Beasts franchise is going back to the beginning.

During Warner Bros.' Hall H presentation on Saturday morning, Eddie Redmayne and his cast -- including Jude Law, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Callum Turner, Zoë Kravitz, Claudia Kim -- debuted the newest trailer for The Crimes of Grindelwald, which features the debut of character from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.

Wizards and witches, muggles and no-mag, meet Nicolas Flamel.

The latest look at the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them follow-up transports the story to Paris, where Albus Dumbledore (Law) tasks Newt Scamander (Redmayne) with stopping the eponymous villain, Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).

"Every single aspect of this movie is a geek-out fiasco," Miller, who donned quite the epic Toadette cosplay in a corset and lingerie stockings, gushed. "I mean, Hogwarts?! Dumbledore?! Nifflers? More nifflers! Give me a break. I could go on."

We also see young Newt studying at Hogwarts, the return of Miller's Credence Barebone, lots of shots of the Eiffel Tower, a very intriguing magical circus and, of course, plenty of beasts of the fantastic variety.

The newest installment in the Harry Potter franchise, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, focuses on Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and Albus Dumbledore's (Jude Law) attempts to thwart the villainous pursuits of Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), and the dark wizard himself made an appearance during the Warner Bros. Hall H panel on Saturday when Depp surprised fans, showing up in his character's signature bleach-blonde hair and black trenchcoat.

"My sisters, my friends, the great gift of your applause is not for me, but for yourselves," Depp said, in the character's creepy cadence, asking the audience to applaud once again, for themselves.

The cast of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald took the stage in Hall H to kick off the Warner Bros. panel on Saturday, but it was Ezra Miller who stole the show first, rocking an epic Toadette cosplay ensemble, complete with a pink mushroom headpiece and lingerie stockings!

Ahead of The CW's marathon superhero panels on Saturday night, the cast of The Flash -- Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Jessica Parker-Kennedy, Hartley Sawyer, and Danielle Nicolet -- sat down to dish on all things speedster in their upcoming fifth season, including how Barry (Gustin) and Iris (Patton) are preparing to deal the introduction of their future-daughter, Nora (Parker-Kennedy). 

"What's great about this season is Iris and Barry are steadfast," Patton remarked. "No issues relationship-wise."

"It's great," Gustin agreed. "It feels like any family issues will be connected to us dealing with [Nora's] arrival. They're really great right now."

But of course, it wouldn't be a superhero show without a big bad, and while fans will have to wait for The Flash's Saturday evening panel to hear more about this season's threat, the cast was able to spill some details.

"I think he's gonna be really scary," Panabaker promised.

"It's really interesting casting," Gustin added, as Patton noted that the big bad is not a speedster this time around. "We had a teaser for him that was supposed to air at the end of last season. We're showing it at the beginning of this season instead. It's a cool little segment."

And there's even more surprises to come! "I've got one new thing that I'm really excited about, but I'm not allowed to talk about it yet," Gustin teased. "But it's made this season really exciting and fun for me. You guys will know soon enough."
